This small but refined two-room apartment overlooking a beautiful river one step away (real!) From Rialto is located in a fifteenth-century building in the center of Venice. Palazzo Cavazza Foscari Mocenigo dalle Zogie (or "from the Pearls") is a magnificent late Gothic structure of the first half of the fifteenth century donated in 1460 by its owner, Tommaso Cavazza, to the Confraternity of Santa Maria della Carità, then sold in 1487 to Michiel Foscari. From Rialto is located in a fifteenth-century building in the center of Venice. In 1491, Pellegrina Foscari, daughter of Michiel, marries Alvise Mocenigo and brings him as a dowry to her husband. The internal courtyard consists of a double row of arched columns with a well with sculpted Foscari weapons and a "water entrance" on the Rio del Piombo. Two lion heads (one of which is probably very ancient, perhaps even Roman, and another from the 16th century) are placed on the perimeter walls of the colonnade and symbolize the power of the Serenissima Republic. You enter the internal courtyard of the Palace from a private marble foundation that starts directly from the Ponte delle Paste (a few meters from Campo San Lio in the direction of Campo Santa Marina), on which you will find the excellent pastry of the same name that will cheer you every day with most exquisite traditional desserts. The small gate of the foundation and the large one of the internal courtyard guarantee privacy and security. Inside the courtyard, you can see, along the far left side of the entrance, a beautiful stone staircase with marble lions to act as a balustrade. This is the exclusive entrance to your apartment! You will therefore have to climb the external stone stairs and a few other internal steps (in total 23, there is no elevator) to access the first floor of the building. On the landing, on the left, the blue and gold lacquered door and leaded glass is the entrance to the two-room apartment of ca. 50 m2 that will host you in Venice. In summer, air conditioning is guaranteed by a powerful portable air conditioner. In your apartment you will find: a lounge of approx. 20 m2 with a ceiling height of 5.30 meters, equipped with a comfortable three-seater sofa, two Louis XV style armchairs and an ottoman on a sommier with precious tapestries. Many pillows also in kilim will soften your stay. Two large French windows with curtains in soft but "rustego" linen ecru give access to the small seventeenth-century Istrian stone balcony of mt. 2.70 x 0.80 approx. amplitude. The balcony on the Rio del Piombo is vast enough to allow you to stop with two wooden chairs and a small stool. Perfect for a late evening aperitif in June, an afternoon reading in spring or an early morning breakfast even in the winter months with crystal light. The Rio del Piombo and the adjacent Rio della Fava, on which the facade of the Palazzo insists, are frequented by both gondolas and freight boats: this is normal for Venice, but does not constitute an obstacle for night rest, which is guaranteed. Indeed, if you stop long enough to become familiar with this typically Venetian aspect, you will do as Wagner and insert in your personal songs the calls of the gondoliers who signal their arrival to colleagues behind the canal vault ... In the lounge there is also the Satellite TV. Internet is guaranteed by the WI-FI line whose access key you will find written inside the apartment. The second room, of ca. 16 m2 with two large double glazed windows, includes the small kitchen with 4-burner ceramic induction hob and electric oven. There is no dishwasher or washing machine. A free-standing refrigerator of limited dimensions completes the number of large appliances. The complete list of equipment is available (all of good supply and suitable for the induction hob - including the Italian-style coffee maker - and with various small appliances, including the kettle and the American coffee machine. .). In this area is the dining area with a large wooden table and several seats. To the side of the kitchen is the small (blind) bathroom with toilet, sink and shower (hairdryer also supplied). It is small, but functional ... The spiral staircase in blue lacquered wood leads to the mezzanine of ca. 12 m2 where the bed of cm. 140 in width. Due to the mezzanine, children cannot be accommodated! The apartment is equipped with a set of sheets (for those who stay beyond the week we will agree on the change) and a complete set of towels for each guest (baby, hands and towel). The bed is equipped with a light quilt for the warm seasons and a blanket for the winter. TOURIST TAXES - € 4 per person per day for the first 5 days of stay. About the neighbourhood
The Rialto area, we can say, is one of the world's most famous for its liveliness, its fantastic restaurants and shops, the beautiful fish and herb market and the bridge, of course. But if you want to get out of the "pit" also tourist area, you will come quickly in the quiet and refined quietness of Venice just turning left for Calle who will take you on Campo Santa Marina, in 4 minutes, in Campo Santa Maria Formosa . The Rialto area of Santa Maria Formosa is full of excellent restaurants and bàcari (typical Venetian taverns) in your apartment you will find a small selection of my non-tourist sites, but if you need more information, I will always be available.
Getting around
In Venice you get to walk everywhere! But if you decide to take boats to several times a day to reach remote areas between them is objectively better predict the purchase of a day pass or multi-day. Just the ticket to the Rialto Bridge you will find the best solution for your needs.
