An extra folding bed with slatted frame and very comfortable mattress can placed in one of the rooms. Another stairway leads to the rooftop terrace (70m2) including a roof house, which also can be used as an extra bedroom. The rooftop is fully furnished with lounge sofa, bean bags, hammock, fireplace and BBQ. Part of roof is decorated as a garden of herbs and fruit plants. Our neighborhood is called 'Oud Zuid' (Old South). It' a prestigious residential area, steps away from the Vondelpark (the city's largest and most popular park, with cafes, ponds and English gardens). Within walking distance of the Museumsquare (Van Gogh, Stedelijk Museum and Rijks-Museum). Near fashionable streets like PC Hoofdstraat, Beethovenstraat and Cornelis Schuytstraat and more charming shops plus daily all groceries around the corner. There is also plenty nice cafes and very good restaurants nearby (around 150 restaurants and take-a-ways within a 1/2 mile radius). Other attractions like Concert Hall, Anne Frank House, Rembrandthouse, Heineken Brewery, Squares (Dam, Leidse, Rembrandt) and Canals are within 2.5 miles. Public transport Trams and Buses are all within 1 minute walk. 2 train stations within 0.8 miles. From our home there's a direct bus line to the airport (20 minutes). The city center - Leidse Square area and Museum District - is only a few minutes away and incredibly easy to reach: if you don't like walking and you are not planning to rent a bike (the best way to visit Amsterdam), you can catch any bus or tram to bring you downtown in less then 10 minutes. Bikes & Canal motor boat I can organize cheap bicycles for you during you stay. No pick up or return hassles and no need to pay deposit. They are just there ready to go. As I have my own electrical driven motorboat (very quiet), suitable for 6 persons, I can organize your own private canal tour. You decide were to go and when or just enjoy the ride and let me show you the highlights of Amsterdam. Food & drinks can be provided or bring your own. ***ATTENTION*** The apartment is in a residential area not suitable for party people and/or stag parties. We care about our neighbors, therefore this apartment can host maximum 4 male guests or a total of 6 adults! We enjoyed our stay, location was good as we were staying for a few days. Was close to the airport and only a short tram ride from the City Centre. Nice apartment, please be aware that the stairs are very steep, so not so great for people that would struggle on a steep stair with many steps. Great apartment stay for me and friends

The flat is advertised as 4 bedrooms 3 bathrooms. On arrival, having climbed 38 very narrow and steep steps - and that is only to get to the flat!-we were told only 1 bathroom and 2 toilets and only 3 bedrooms.. We were 6 of us which meant queues in the morning. As the owner said it is their home, very nice but nowhere to hang clothes . We had to live out of the suitcase. The fridge was full of their food with part of a shelve for our use. I found that very unhygienic. The only cupboard in the bathroom was packed with the owner stuff which meant we had to leave our things on the floor. The owner has a big dog and the flat is full of its hair. Some good points. The flat is nicely decorated and well located, 15 minutes by tram to the center of amsterdam. The area is full of cafes, shops and restaurants. The roof terrasse looked good but it was too cold to use it. On conclusion, far too expensive for what was on offer.

The property was double booked. After a 6 hours drive from Germany with 3 kids, we arrive by the check-in time just to find the property occupied. The owner did not not take any responsibility. TripAdvisor team did not even bother to call us or offer any solution. After some long conversations with all of them we had to urgently find some other accommodations - the start of vacation was ruined. Terrible experience of worst service ever.

We stayed there for 5 days with 5 people and enjoyed our trip very much. The flat (its more a house than a flat) is equipped with everything one needs for a holiday. It has a great interior design and especially the roof top is just awesome and prevented us several times from exploring the city. The flat is located in a side street and although the traffic can be heard, the noise level is absolutely acceptable for the fact that it is mid of south Amsterdam. We would have liked to stay there longer and will come back definitely. Just one thing: Due to the fact, that it is a classical amsterdam city house, it has many, many stairs and is not really feasible for handicapped people.

We really enjoyed Michiel's vacation rental in Amsterdam. We visited with our 3 kids (11, 16 and 18) and the flat is set up with two bunk beds in one room, a second bedroom plus a master which was perfect for us. It is nicely furnished with an upscale modern kitchen and bathroom. As noted by others, the flat is an upper unit with steep stairs which we actually liked. It was in an authentic older building with high ceilings, original woodwork and big windows with lots of light during the short winter days (dark by 4:45pm) The roof top deck was also fun but we did not use it. Amsterdam is full of bikes and we should have pre arranged the use Michiel's bikes. (There is also a bike store literally around the corner that charges 12 Euro a day but they only had 5 adult bikes and 1 childrens bike for rent in total. Plus, there was a lot interest in the bike store bikes because Vondel park is nearby.) It is a fun ride into (and around) the city centre from the apartment and many places to lock bikes up. There is also a grocery store about half a block down the street. We usually had breakfast in and dinner at a local restaurant given our total trip was 16 days in Europe. There are many good restaurant choices within walking distance of the flat and in the city centre. (We found reviews on Trip Advisor very helpful.) On our last night, we especially enjoyed authentic Dutch food at The Pantry and it had super friendly service. We totally recommend advanced reservations for the Van Gogh, Anne Frank Museum, bike rentals, boat rides and most restaurants. During the holidays, there were many, many tourists and if you did not book in advance there were long lines. For most museums kids are free or have a low fee if under 18. We had a rental car and found street parking very close to the flat when we arrived and then moved our car to a parking lot nearby. It is very affordable if you park and then take public transport into the city. If you do not take public transport you do not qualify for the discount and it can be expensive. Street parking was free in Sundays and holidays. We also used Uber to get into and out of the city centre. It was about $10 Euro one way from the flat. We were picked up by a newer black Mercedes sedan one trip and a newer black Mercedes van on another. The driver spoke great English. Given that we are a family of 5 the Uber van was a great option since many taxis only take 4 people. We also drove out to see the Windmills in Zaanes Schans about a 30 minutes from the flat. It is touristy but very fun to see them! It is about $3 Euro per person to go inside each one but worth seeing-we had an excellent volunteer tour guide of the saw mill-Het Jonge Schaap. Over all, it was a great visit!

Our family of 2 adults and 3 teenagers stayed here for a week in August and found the accommodation just right for our family situation. It was very spacious and well equipped, although there are steep stairs to climb (over the 3 floors) which might not suit everyone. The location near the park meant we could choose to walk into the city centre to the museums and attractions, or take the tram which stopped around the corner. We hired bikes from the owner and found the cycling easy although 2 of the bikes were too heavy for my daughters to use. The roof terrace was fabulous and we enjoyed having BBQs (using a disposable BBQ as we couldn't really see how we could use the built one) and the view of the rooftops was an added bonus. We found having just the one bathroom a bit of a hindrance with 5 people (3 of them being teenage girls!) and we did experience problems with the shower not draining which lead to the bathroom floor getting flooded. This was soon sorted out by the owner's friend who was responsible for the property whilst the owner was away on holiday. The previous reviewer mentioned they found it difficult to use the coffee machine, we experienced the same difficulties and actually never got it to work for us. This was a small issue compared to the rest of the facilities and convenience of the accommodation overall. At the end of the holiday, we were able to leave our luggage in the property for a few extra hours after check out, as our flight didn't leave till the evening which was helpful. Finally, our 3 girls voted the accommodation and the holiday as a big hit, which was good news! Thank you to the owner and Ricardo who was in charge.

Thanks for the review. To make sure that the bonus of having a state of the art espresso machine doesn't become a 'disadvantage', I will make sure the there will be a manual for this so everyone will be able to enjoy the best coffees and cappuccinos :-) The owner, Michiel

This is a very nice flat in a great location near one of the best parks in Amsterdam and within walking distance of the city centre. It is very obviously the owners home, not just a bare holiday flat. The owner provides lots of useful information about the locality etc. Arrangements for access were fine. Accomodation is spacious and attractive. The roof terrace would probably be much more useful in better weather than we had, but it is not an essential aspect of the property. Facilities are good, particularly if the previous guests, or the cleaner remembers to clean the excellent coffee machine. Yes we did get it to work eventually but had to first discover how to empty the tray of mouldy old grains from previous occupants. That was about the only 'complaint'. The price of our stay, in July, was on the high side, but I guess this is the going rate for such a good property in such a nice location. We would certainly recommend it if your budget is not too tight.

This apartment is great place to stay in Amsterdam. Right on a tram line into the city. Great eating places close by. The apartment has a fabulous roof terrace perfect for chilling as the sun goes down! Michiel the owner was great. He runs a canal cruise which we did. Would defiantly recommend this place to stay and would stay here again if we went back.

Had a fabulous stay: apartment is stunning (clean, modern, comfortable, funky), & Amsterdam is always an outstanding city to spend time. Location is great as really close to Vondelpark for a gorgeous walk into the centre or the trams are just a few minutes walk. Host Michiel is really helpful & friendly. Highly RECOMMEND.
