Lovely stone cottage in the heart of Ballater. Decorated to a very high standard and with all the home comfort you could need. The kids loved the garden and we loved the fact that all the shops and restaurants were within easy walking distance.

About the neighbourhood
Ballater has been in the news over the last few years due to Storm Frank. A huge devastating flood in December 2015. St.Kilda (this cottage) was very lucky and suffered no damage. The town of Ballater has come back with a vengeance! More improved shops, cafes and restaurants have appeared. The people are lovely and welcoming. Golf club, bowling green and tennis courts are 5 minutes away. Walks without driving include Craigendarroch Hill and a lovely walk around the River Dee and golf course (about 40 minutes). A short drive to Cambus o Mey for some trail walks, a full circular walk lasts around 50 minutes. There are three different walks. A little further on (past the fishing lake) is Loch Kinord, a nature reserve with several trail walks.
Getting around
Around 40 miles from Aberdeen. Bus services from Aberdeen and Perth. Bus stop at Co-op in centre of town is only a few steps from cottage. Sometimes in the winter the snow gates are closed both Glenshee and Cairn o Mount so you have to go the snail route through Stonehaven. An extra 20 minutes to your journey, can’t be helped I’m afraid.
