This spacious renovated one bedroom barn located in the Peak district has been furnished to a high standard and offers a great base to explore the Goyt Valley and Buxton on foot, cycle or by car. It has a galleried landing over the lounge leading to a good sized bedroom and shower room. Heating is provided throughout, and a log burner (with starter basket of logs) is provided for a truly cosy night in. The cottage is only a few minutes drive from the small town of Whaley Bridge and a stone's throw away from many walks within the Peak District National Park. Fernilee is within walking distance of both Fernilee and Erwood reservoirs and the walks start from the front door. There is also a traditional country pub within a few minutes’ walk offering home cooked food and a warm welcome....This spacious renovated one bedroom barn located in the Peak district has been furnished to a high standard and offers a great base to explore the Goyt Valley and Buxton on foot, cycle or by car. About the neighbourhood
The local town of Whaley Bridge has a range of local amenities (supermarket/post office/ butchers/train station/cycle shop) and a number of cafes, pubs and restaurants. There is also a canal basin with more walks and pleasure boat day trips. The spa town of Buxton is also a short drive away where you can enjoy a show at Buxton Opera House, a visit to the picturesque Pavilion Gardens or a trip to Poole's Cavern. Buxton also boasts a variety of shops, cafes. Pubs and restaurants. Other nearby attractions are Bakewell, where you can treat yourself to a pudding. Castleton, a picturesque village with stunning walks and scenery, caves to visit and the dramatic Winnat's Pass as a backdrop. The famous Chatsworth House and Park and Haddon Hall are also in the local area and are well worth a visit.
Getting around
We provide spacious on-site parking within the grounds, which are protected by an electric gate (key fob and instructions provided to all residents). There are many walks available from the front door without having to use your car (Fernilee reservoir is within a 5-10 minute walk), and there is also a bus stop with links to Buxton and Glossop within a 5-6 minute walk of the property. By car, Whaley Bridge and Chapel-en-le-Frith can be driven to within 5 and 10 minutes respectively, with Buxton also a 10 minute drive.
