Buxton has its own railway station and is well served by buses to Manchester Airport and out into the countryside. The cottage has private parking for at least 2 cars and outdoor seating to enjoy a BBQ or relaxed drink. Inside the cottage there is an open fire for cosy nights in on cooler evenings. Until the early 1900s Smithys Cottage had been the home of the local blacksmith for several hundred years - though now refurbished into comfortable accommodation it still retains much of its old period charm: - a large oak beam fireplace with a cast iron open fire. - thick limestone walls with deep recessed windows - walls that slope outwards downstairs and inwards upstairs - hardly a 'right angle' in the house to be found!More

Second time I've stayed here. Really close to the market square which has a few convenience stores on it, and a short walk from Buxton Park, Opera house etc. It's a nice home away from home.
