The cottage enjoys its own garden area in which to sit out and unwind from the stresses of everyday life. Russets is equipped and furnished to a very high standard, with almost everything you could need for a totally relaxed holiday. It has been converted by a local builder with great care to retain many original features whilst creating a warm and welcoming cottage in which to truly unwind and get away from it all. THE KITCHEN As you come through the front door you enter a fully equipped kitchen with a dining area. There is plenty of china etc. and extra chairs are available if you wish to entertain a few friends or family. It has all that you need for a comfortable hassle-free stay including a full sized electric oven, a microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and automatic washer-dryer. SITTING ROOM From the kitchen you ascend the original steep narrow stairs up to a galleried sitting room and double bedroom both of which overlook woodland. The sitting room has comfortable seating, oak furniture and a Sony 28” LCD TV and DVD player. There is a supply of books to choose from, games to play and plenty of tourist information and maps to help you plan your stay. We even supply you with binoculars and a bird book so that you can view the many visitors to our bird feeder which you can view directly from the window. THE BEDROOM AND EN-SUITE The bedroom is furnished with oak furniture and has a King sized (5ft) pocket sprung divan bed and a small remote controlled TV. There is an en-suite bathroom with an over-bath shower and sloping ceiling. SITTING OUT AREA In front of the cottage is Russets own private sitting out area surrounded by containers of plants with garden furniture, an umbrella and a Weber charcoal barbecue. OUT AND ABOUT If you want a rest from driving there is access onto a public footpath just outside the garden, and the Vanguard Way is only 10 minute's walk away. Several vineyards in the vicinity produce some rather good wines which can be sampled and bought. The Bluebell Steam Railway makes frequent journeys from Sheffield Park, with its period railway station and frequent special evening and week-end events for all ages. A great day out can also be enjoyed on the Ashdown Forest, the home of Winnie the Pooh and his friends, is less than 2 miles away, which is an ideal setting for wildlife and offers the perfect recipe for picnics, walking and riding. A warm, welcoming and peaceful cottage with everything we needed for a weekend away escaping the busy London life. The owner Joan is very accommodating and friendly and the little extras really were the cherry on top. Awaiting us were a bottle of Prosecco and cake and the cottage itself was well stocked and just lovely. Thank you!

The cottage was fitted out to a very high standard with everything one could wish for in a holiday cottage, with little extra touches that showed the thought gone into it. It was our base for visiting a number of famous gardens in the vicinity and was convenient also for the south coast. Good food pubs within a short distance. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Cannot recommend it highly enough.

Stayed for a 2 night short break as was visiting the Bluebell railway. Lovely cottage with everything you could need. Spotlessly clean with a very comfy bed, fresh towels and bed linen. So much more peaceful and relaxing than a hotel and little extra touches such as the Prosecco and cake went down very nicely - there was even a pint of milk in the fridge. Would highly recommend.

A beautiful self contained cottage with everything you could need for a short stay(the tumble dryer came in very handy!) We had a lovely welcome from Mrs. Cooper and the extra touches such as the Prosecco and cream scones was very lovely after our journey. The cottage itself was very clean and welcoming. Thankyou for a lovely weekend and we will be recommending you to all who will listen! Thankyou again.

Superb cottage with personal touches, just what we needed to get out of the city for the weekend. Joan was a great host and we arrived to find home made cakes and Prosecco, set in beautiful grounds the cottage was immaculately clean and tasteful with a comfy bed. There's a lovely pub a few minutes walk up the road and we had a great time just relaxing, wish we could have stayed longer!

This is our second trip back to the UK and we again stayed at "Russets" for 2 weeks in March / April 2016 and then again in May / June for the last 2 weeks of our holidays. The cottage we stayed in is extremely warm and welcoming with everything you need for a well earned and relaxing holiday. Joan and Jim are the perfect hosts and nothing is to much trouble. We always enjoy staying there and the surrounding area is beautiful. The county has lots to offer with lots of walks and not to far from anywhere. Extremely quiet and stress free. A must stay at this location.
