We were sadly very disappointed with our recent stay. Given the previous positive reviews we were unhappy to find what should be a lovely property in a dirty and poorly maintained condition. The cottage clearly hadn't been cleaned for some time. The floors, kitchen worktops and dining tables were all dirty. There were dead spiders everywhere including in the beds. Clean bedding was provided on request. There were other maintenance issues including a leaking shower cubicle. A cleaner was offered when issues were raised but we would have hoped that the property would have been left in a better condition for our arrival.

Lovely accommodation, really well looked after. Staff were very helpful in the main reception next door. Nice and quiet cottages (6 in a courtyard area), plenty of parking. Lovely walks nearby. Close enough to walk into town but far enough away to be nice and quiet. Would recommend.

We booked this property at short notice for us (me, hubby & adult daughter) & my elderly parents, it fitted the bill perfectly as it had a downstairs bedroom & bathroom. It’s a really nice cottage where the only downside is the configuration of the living area caused by the huge fireplace! We felt that it was a bit lacking in pans (no large frying pan) & utensils for the number of beds but it wasn’t a major problem. The upstairs bedrooms are particularly nice & the en-suites were good although the knobs on the showers could be difficult to turn. Would we do a return visit? Yes we would, we loved the location & found it a comfortable place to stay.

Very clean, weird layout, outdoor area strange set up too! Door didn’t close on one of the bathrooms and noisy when it rained on the roof. However it was a good price, would have been better if closer to town

The outside areas were neglected, rubbish , weeds and abandoned toys. Inside no toilet roll holder upstairs, not a single picture hanging, no instructions for use of appliances. Advertised as having internet but this was erratic, had to ask for password, wasn't provided. Cottages I have booked before normally provide a pint of milk and a few biscuits or cake, would have been a nice touch. Didn't use the dishwasher as I didn't want to purchase a box of tablets as Idon't have one at home. Didn't think I had value for money.

Cottage was really nicely fitted out with most everything you could want in it. Linen and towels were good quality. 3 showers although the one downstairs had a problem with adjusting heat which we notified manager about. Picnic bench and seats outside on shared green was a nice touch. Lovely walks around and Key Haven could be reached on footpaths should you want to but we did it by car. Visited Hurst Castle, Beaulieu Motor Museum, Lymington etc which were all very close. We would definitely think about going there again.

Clean, comfortable & remote, you need a car. Kitchen & bedroom irritatingly next to car park. Wi-fi useless couldn’t even google where to go or eat, zero streaming for the kids, unable to keep up with emails. Mobile network nonexistent to patchy at best. Foul smell from toilets after waste pumped by a lorry midweek. Communal grassed area needs TLC. Allocating outside furniture would prevent inconsiderate behaviour by other guests. 2 small grubby bbqs across 6 cottages, didn’t get to use one all week.

Hi Russell, sorry to hear your stay wasn't quite as you had hoped. The area isn't the best for mobile networks unfortunately as it's quite remote. There is enough outside furniture for each cottage to have its own, so if for some reason another guest was using more I can only appologise for this - it's not something that usually happens. If you do return, please visit reception with any concerns as we like to sort them immediately if we can. Many thanks!

The cottage complex appears to be newly built, but done in a style which gives the impression of converted farm buildings, with beautiful patterns of brickwork both inside and out. There are 6 cottages around a shared courtyard, which has plenty of space for sitting on lawn or patio, plus an assortment of bikes and a small play area for younger children. There is also a barbecue area and a laundry room. Cottage number 5 is spacious and comfortably furnished. The master bedroom upstairs is enormous and very light and airy, the twin room upstairs is more cramped, but the layout allows children to have their own zones within the room. Both upstairs bedrooms have roomy modern ensuite shower rooms. The spiral staircase is fine for fit adults, but rather daunting for smaller children or less mobile adults. The downstairs bedroom is much smaller and is adequate but cramped. Rotating the bed could be advantageous to allow a second bedside table and lamp. The downstairs bathroom is very spacious (possibly to the detriment of the 3rd bedroom) and has a huge shower .... good for showering reluctant toddlers! The kitchen/dining area is light, airy and well equipped .... beware the smoke alarms which are very sensitive and right by the cooker! The lounge area is rather dark and crammed into an alcove which is dominated by a huge television. It would have been nice to have a third settee in the woodburner fire area as this space was under used due to absence of comfortable seating. The location is ideal for peace and quiet,or country walks. The roads in the New Forest area get very clogged up with tourist traffic, but the Mews are down a tiny no through road, so there is no traffic noise at all. The Chequers pub is a short walk across the fields (fine in daylight!) and a stile to clamber over. There is another route which is more pushchair friendly, but we did not try it(ask at receptions for directions). Parking is very restricted, so prepare to be boxed in so you need to asked to be let out! The food is excellent and reasonably priced. The reception office is at the campsite just down the lane ... they are very helpful and very friendly. The campsite also has a small playground, a big field for ball games and a big pink elephant!!

First impressions were that the outside is in need of a little TLC There were cobwebs all over the porch area and along window frames and bits of plaster coming off The plant pots outside other cottages also looked tired A brush down of the porch and windows would make it more appealing Inside the space is great Lovely kitchen area with all that we needed .Although we didnt do any cooking there is a huge range cooker .Some spots of chipped paint inside and some blown bulbs in the landing light- all of which were pointed out on departure . Good sized bedrooms and shower areas Unfortunately the bedrooms got very hot and the duvet was too heavy for summer, so none of us slept very well during the stay Pehaps the provison of fans would improve this

Nice in terms of size for four adults and 2 small children and the black out curtains were particularly helpful with small children. Kitchen was well equipped with utensils and detergent, bin bags etc and the staff at reception were very helpful with finding places to go. Some areas slightly let our stay down though with the downstairs bathroom being a bit damp smelling so we used the upstairs ones. The overall feel outside does feel a little run down and the laundry room was separate, and a little grubby - more suited to a campsite than when paying to hire a cottage. Cleaning items such as hoovers and brushes were grubby to use. We found the WiFi pretty much non-existent so if you don't mind that you will be ok but as a large family and having to get a bit of work done during the week too proved quite a difficulty as there was also no phone signal for any of us. We had to drive out a lot to get both internet and phone signal. Overall a nice stay for somewhere different but didn't always feel like we had the nice little comforts of what we like for a holiday.
