All linen and towels are included in the rental and the complimentary Sea Kelp toiletries add a touch of luxury. Woodland and loch-side walks start from the door and further afield is a comprehansive selection of low-level and hill walks to suit all abilities. The area is also ideal for cycling and fishing (by permit only) and offers plenty of scope for cultural or history enthusiasts. Explore Outlander and Outlaw/King country with a visit to medieval Doune Castle (the on-screen Castle Leoch and Douglas Castle) less than 30 minutes away or Stirling where the Castle, royal residence and ancient military stronghold, and the iconic Wallace Monument, are both around 40 minutes away. After a day of walking or sight-seeing, relax with a glass of wine or freshly-brewed coffee on the patio, or take a two-minute walk to the pub. If you prefer not to cook your own meal in our full-sized kitchen, there is a wide range of restaurants in Callander, 15 minutes away. The village tearoom is open at weekends from Spring till Autumn and is ideal for lunches, morning coffee or afternoon tea. Well-behaved dogs are welcome (usually one only). Please note we make a small additional charge for dogs of £30 which will be added after a booking is confirmed, and we ask owners to follow a few rules for their pets (See house rules for details). Guests are welcome to enjoy our bluebell woods and riverbank, where you might spot red squirrels, badgers, foxes, pine martens, deer or even an otter. The grounds around the house are wild and natural with all the usual hazards you would expect in the countryside. For the most part, they are not enclosed, and there is open water nearby, so we ask that younger children are supervised at all times and dogs kept on a lead.More

This is a very comfortable and welcoming house, well equipped and recently refurbished. We loved the location near to cycle paths and hills to climb but also great for relaxing, with a couple of spots in the garden set up to sit outside and catch the sun. The owners live next door and are helpful and welcoming. We'll definitely be back!

What a beautiful cottage in a beautiful location. Immaculate, the property had everything we needed for our stay and more. The owner, Hilary, was most welcoming. All in the cottage was easy to use and there were even labels on items with top tips, brilliant idea. Only problem we had was coming away. Will certainly return next year.

The Annex is spotlessly clean and very nicely kitted out however compact downstairs. The bedrooms are more spacious, both with lovely ensuite shower rooms. Outside the property would have benefitted from an enclosed area to offer a bit more privacy when sitting out especially when sitting out at the front seating area. There was a main road very close which is not ideal when you have dogs who like to explore the new environment. There was also a lot going on around the grounds, perhaps a work in progress, again a fence could have hidden all of this. Great walks from the door and a fantastic pub - dog friendly! offering the best woodfired pizzas.... 'The Byre' book before you go if wanting food and the live music is fantastic. Couldn't fault the host. 10 mins drive from Callander and Aberfoyle if you run out of essentials and a Scottish Real Ale shop is worth a visit just before you arrive in Callander.

Tigh a' Mhaide is a lovely cottage, exceptionally well-equipped and comfortable, and set in its own extensive woodland. It had everything we needed for our stay and our dog was welcome too. Hilary and Richard were very friendly and helpful. The location is perfect for exploring the Trossachs, with lovely walks from the village itself and a short drive to Callander and Aberfoyle. We are keen hill walkers and Ben Ledi, Ben Venue and Glen Finglas are all close by. We enjoyed eating out at Venachar Lochside and the quirky local pub, The Byre. Achray Farm, a short walk away, sells their own delicious ice cream made from goat's milk. We couldn’t have had a better place to stay and would thoroughly recommend it.

Supremely well equiped accommodation and in a great quiet location. Ideal for forest walks, hill walking and lochs. Friendly owner was very helpful! It's not too far from Callander and Aberfoyle, but it really benefits from the tranquility. Recommended!

We loved this immaculate cottage Comfortable and amenities 5 star. We were able to relax and enjoy the area. So close to Loch Katrine for a cycle or two and lots of walking areas really close by. Despite the weather being unusually wet, we were able to do a lot of walking as all the local routes lead to Callander or Loch Katrine. Comfortable beds, very cosy and rain showers were great. They welcome dogs and even have a ground floor wet room so that you can wash your pet. Kitchen perfectly stocked for home made meals. Hilary, Richard and Pip were so welcoming and left us a little basket of local treats. We will return for sure and have already spread the word.

We were looking for a place to stay to do some walking around Hogmanay and were delighted with Tigh a' Mhaide which is right in the middle of all sorts of walks such a munros and corbets but also forest track and lochside walks. We noticed an extensive cycling network in the area too. We also enjoyed walking about Callander, and buying antiques, which is a very pretty town and enjoyed good local food in the Loch Venachar restaurant and the Byre Gastro pub, Brig o'Turk. We were also fortunate to gate crash, okay we were invited, a really well attended and vibrant village Ceilidh at Brig o Turk too which was lovely for my French girlfriend. Top tip held annually on 2 Jan! The accdn was wonderfully comfortable with a super comfortable big bed in the master bedroom and well layed out for walking. A wet room just by the front door and with enough showers for 3 people to shower immediately with the fourth on tea duty. The appartment is tastefully decorated and all the kit is new and high spec. Although the owners are next door, we never really saw anyone and felt no privacy issues at all. So much so that my French girlfriend is now my fiancee after a walk up Ben A'an. What can I say, a magical stay and cannot recommend it enough to ohers.

We stayed here for a week and enjoyed it very much. The local area is wonderful, scenic and welcoming. Coming back after a lovely walk beside the loch to the luxury of the cottage was a huge plus for us. We felt really cared for and valued. I would definitely recommend this location to anyone looking in the area. We were not disappointed with anything other than the sun didn’t shine every day 😀

This was a great find. The cottage has been beautifully decorated and appointed with all possible amenities - full of lovely touches. Excellent, clean bathrooms with good showers and fluffy towels. Fully equipped kitchen. Books, games, piano and more (including putting and croquet outside). Great location for walking and exploring the Trossachs. Welcoming host with loads of helpful local tips.
