Little Woodacott is a cosy woodland self-contained, non-smoking, one bedroom cottage, sleeping two people, set in our 10 acres of Bugford Wood an historic and peaceful oak forest in East Down, near Barnstaple, North Devon. Guest will find plenty of interest should they decide to explore the woods. Bugford Wood has a network of forest paths zig-zagging among oak, beech, ash, birch, hazel and a variety of conifers, including redwoods, with the river Yeo as its eastern boundary. There is abundant bird life with the occasional roe or even red deer. Public footpaths are nearby. About the neighbourhood
Little Woodacott is a woodland cottage set in 10 acres of mixed broadleaf and conifer with a river at one of its boundaries. There are abundant walks in the woods and longer walks on marked footpaths in the East Down area and beyond. The nearest pub, The Pyne Arms, is about a 20 minute walk away. The pub is dog friendly. The nearest town is Barnstaple with all the usual facilities, supermarkets, a cinema, a theatre, a pannier market and al the usual retail outlets. The nearest beaches are some of North Devon's best, for example, Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton Sands among many others.
Getting around
A car is essential to visit the beaches. The Tarka Line from Barnstaple station goes along the scenic Taw valley to Exeter stopping at interesting places along the way. From Exeter St Davids, with London and Penzance connections, the line continues from Exeter Central to the seaside town of Exmouth. There is regular bus service from Barnstaple to Ilfracombe and Bideford.
