Just the perfect place for us. Very hard to find suitable places for my family when away working and I couldn’t be more grateful. It’s big!!! It’s cosy. All we need. The bath in the main bedroom could almost be classified as a swimming pool! The perfect grounds. Fabulous hosts. THANK YOU

Lovely cottage in Nottinghamshire countryside particularly with the tranquillity of the abbey's grounds. Great place for cycling - bring your bikes. Easily accessible to Nottingham and surrounding places of interest. Cottage was very clean and a beautiful cake to welcome us! Thanks to Steve and Carol.

Had a such a fab time at Granary. It was for my Mum's 70th and Steve went to the trouble of decorating the cottage out in banners for our arrival - alongside a beautiful, handmade apple pie! What a complete legend. It made us all feel so special. Accommodation itself was spot on too. Lovely, spacious and spotlessly clean. Great effort had been taken to ensure cleanliness. The baths are gigantic! Well worth the experience. The location is also unsurpassed. Beautiful, secluded and also near enough to walk to the Abbey from. Perfect stay. Will stay again.

We enjoyed it so much last summer we returned for a winter weekend! Once again we had a great time. The cottage is well equipped, clean and spacious. The setting is beautiful and we loved the peace and tranquilty. It was also lovely and warm and very cosy for a winter break. The owners are very helpful and the delicious cake on arrival was an added bonus! We will definitely be back for a third visit I'm sure!

I have been visiting Newstead Abbey for my whole life. Being able to stay within the grounds with my family from Canada was a wonderful experience. The Granary Cottage is one of a number of outbuildings that provided services to the Abbey. It has been beautifully converted into a three bedroom guest house. Each bedroom has a full ensuite bathroom. Downstairs is a large, very comfortable living room, with plenty of seating and a dining area, The kitchen is small but is fully equipped with all the appliances, including a washing machine. The 200 year old atmosphere of the cottage has been preserved by the addition of new solid oak doors, door trim, staircase, and cupboards. Parking is available just outside the door. Newstead Abbey itself is a 10 minute walk along the service road. The owners, Steve and Carol, who live next door, are very obliging and friendly. We were welcomed with a lovely freshly baked cake. There are several restaurants and pubs within a few minutes drive of the Abbey gates. All in all, the Granary Cottage is a perfect location for anyone visiting this part of Nottinghamshire.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Very clean and so spacious. The cottage was fully equipped with everything you could need. Travelling as a group of four women looking for a relaxing weekend meeting up with our friends who live in the grounds of Newstead Abbey it was ideal! The bottle of wine on arrival was a lovely extra too! Definitely going to stay again. We loved it!

With both daughters going through University of Nottingham undergraduate courses, this has been our accommodation of choice over the last four years whenever we have travelled up from Cornwall to visit them. It's a dog friendly, home from home haven, situated in the stunning grounds of Newstead Abbey. Our daughters have always loved staying at the Granary as it provides a comfortable and cosy break for them during the rigours of the academic terms - as the youngest one said last weekend - 'It's a place to clear your head'. We arrived on the Thursday afternoon and the cottage was lovely and warm on a cold, November afternoon. We are usually greeeted with some of Carol's lovely cooking but, having let Steve know in advance that my husband and I are now gluten free, a very thoughtful bottle of red wine had been left for us instead. We had stocked up on food in a Sainsbury's in Nottingham so were able to cook most of our meals over the four day stay at the cottage - the kitchen, although quite small, is what I'd call a 'cook's kitchen' - very well equipped and everything working very well. On the Friday, we explored Ravenshead village and, not having done this before, were pleased to find some lovely local shops, including a very well stocked deli. Afterwards, we drove to Lincoln, about an hour away, and an intriguing city to explore. Our daughter and boyfriend joined us that evening and stayed for the rest of the weekend when we were able to make the most of the beautiful Autumn weather with a glorious walk down to the Abbey with the dogs - the colours in the Japanese Garden were incredible this year. On the Sunday it was roast dinner at the Fox and Hounds pub, dog friendly and always a good option, and only about fifteen minutes drive from the cottage. We were very sorry to have to leave at the end of our long weekend but I'm certain we will be back for a seventh stay in 2018! Thanks again Steve and Carol. Highly recommend.

Loved being in the Newstead Abbey grounds and lots of places nearby to walk the dog and eat out. We did a trip to Cresswell Crags with the cave tour which was very worthwhile and also to the Dinosaur exhibit in Wollaston Hall. Mainly we were here to spend time with the Midland branch of the family. Our only small criticism is that being tall people we found the beds with the solid foot boards too short and consequently didn't sleep too well at first. The children loved the giant baths and the dog coped OK with being shut up at night.

Glad you enjoyed your stay overall. The beds are full sized but like a friend of mine who is 6' 5" tall, he has trouble fitting in beds when he goes away, so I sympathise. Thanks for the feedback when it comes to a refurbishment I will take this on-board.

We stayed for 3 nights, a party of 4 adults and 2 young children. The accommodation was spotless on arrival, and is in beautiful, peaceful surroundings. The owners are located next door, were very friendly and knew on hand if needed but not at all intrusive. Thank you for the delicious homemade cream cakes on arrival, much appreciated! The bedrooms and bathrooms were a great size and layout, each having its own en suite was a great bonus and so convenient! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely look to book again in the summer when we next visit family in the area.
