Amazing Stay / Fabulous Hospitality
My family and I stayed in this villa for a month and a half from February - April. The location is absolutely amazing, just meters away from the beautiful Marathi Beach. Coordinating the stay was easy with the help of Alex. While staying there, Spiros was available whenever needed and was the most gracious host we've ever encountered. When we arrived, the fridge was stocked with necessities and a wonderful basket full of fruit was available on the table. While there, Spiros caught a squid and gave us a good portion of it to enjoy. The house itself is gorgeous, with stunning views of the water. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Trully beach villa, very calm and relaxing
If you want to relax far from the touristic hot spots, have a sea at your door step and beach nearly only for you (with guaranteed private umbrella and sun beds) - take this offer. Three great tavernas 1 - 5 minutes walking distance, not expensive. Twice a week house keeping. Very warm hearted owner Spiros always ready to help. Time to time you may hear and see Hellenic F-16 jet fighters due to the close proximity to the airport, but this is more impressive than disturbing. Rental car is a must. We really enjoyed! Thank you Spiros for making our holiday amazing!

Beautiful villa, perfect beach location, outstanding host, heavenly holiday!
We just recently returned from a weeks holiday in Villa Minoa in Marathi and it was just heavenly!
The villa is beautiful, spacious, everything is high quality, a beautiful big garden overlooking the beach with stunning views..
We were 5 adults and one toddler and there was more than enough space for all of us, and every one of us adored the villa and Marathi.
The beach is beautiful and kept spotlessly clean, with crystal clear clean water. The bay is absolutely perfect to swim in; shallow, sandy with very few rocks, perfect for children
The village is a small, authentic, relaxing beach town. The local tavernas are lovely, and with everything just a 2 minute walk it really is the perfect setting for a peaceful, calming family holiday.
Alex who coordinated the trip for us, and Spiros the owner were outstanding! They helped us organise birthday cakes, transport, restaurant bookings, this really was above and beyond what we have experienced before from owners / hosts. Whilst always maintaining a respectful distance to never intrude on our holiday.
I can’t rate this highly enough. It was a perfect family holiday for us all, and I would recommend it to anyone who likes calm, laid back, authentic beach vibes, a beautiful home to enjoy it from, and friendly helpful hosts to support your stay.
We will be back!

Lovely spacious beach house in front of a sandy beach.
My daughter and I stayed in this house for 8 days late October. The house is spacious with 3 bedrooms and has everything you could possibly need. We were collected from the airport, which was a first for us, and then surprised to find the house very well stocked with fruit, milk, bread, sliced meat and cheese, even beer and wine! The house is right in front of a lovely sandy beach and the views from the house, particularly at sunset, are amazing. There are two good tavernas only minutes away but there are no shops or transport from Marathi to anywhere else. The local bus service into Chania had just finished running the week before we arrived so if you want to see other parts of Crete or even go for a meal outside of Marathi a car is essential. Thankfully Spiros the owner kindly drove us into Chania and the shop in the next village a couple of times. This is a lovely holiday home for a family looking for a quiet beach break.

About the neighbourhood
Western Crete is particularly appealing to people who wish to avoid the commercial tourist areas and experience the beauty of this island's rugged mountains (snowcapped in Spring), the spectacular Samaria Gorge and lush lowlands covered with olive groves, citrus trees, vineyards and myriads of wild flowers. Add in interesting archeological sites, the historic town of Chania, glorious sandy beaches with clear blue seas, a wonderful climate, warm friendly people, plus our superb accommodation and you have the recipe for a perfect holiday.
Akrotiri is a region with beautiful, sandy beaches although some can get pretty crowded in July and August; however, they are very clean, generally have great facilities and most are awarded the European Blue Flag every year.
Although growing, Akrotiri is still relatively untouched by traditional tourism.
Most of the peninsula is quite flat, except on the eastern side which is rocky with a rugged hill range. A few of the hills have gorges that end at the sea in scenic rocky coves, some of which are fantastic for snorkelling and fishing. You will also find caves full of stalagmites and stalactites; archaeological and historical artefacts show that some of the caves were used as places of worship or refuges from pirate invasions. If that isn't enough, you will also find some interesting monasteries to visit, justifying Akrotiri's nick-name of "The Holy Mountain of Crete".
