Holiday Rental House
Grapevine cottage is a charismatic home with real bucolic charm. It is set in a shady vineyard with views of the sea just a short walk down a quiet lane from the centre of the village but only 8 km from Kalkan and other tourist attractions. It has been decorated in a natural, old fashioned Turkish style with colourful kilims and textiles and original art work a feature. The two bedrooms are situated downstairs where it is cooler in summer. One bedroom is made entirely from wood. The garden is a cool haven with its own small brook running past the front door and has a large barbecue area. We now have a very experienced local gardener and he and his family have used their skills to make the garden really beautiful. The spacious living room and well equipped country kitchen are upstairs taking full advantage of the panoramic views both of the sea and mountains. Our cottage offers you the opportunity of enjoying Turkish village life at first hand but it is also a welcome retreat at the end of a busy day’s sight seeing or swimming along the coast. If the weather is too hot you can relax in the shady garden under the vines. There is a duck pond and several ducks along with some chickens, a turkey and free range eggs! This year there will surely be organic vegetables and there are also grapes, figs, cherries, plums, quince according to the season More

About the neighbourhood
Islamlar, or Bodamya, its ancient name is well known for its natural water that springs fresh from the mountain and consequent lush green gardens. It was previously of mixed Turkish and Greek race and has three water powered stone mills that are still in use. The village makes its own tahini from locally grown sesame seeds. Every week the local women get together and make yufta, a natural flat bread made on an open fire from the stone milled flour. The views of the sea are breathtaking. It is a fascinating area of great natural beauty. Just above Islamlar there are interesting rock tombs, evidence of its ancient past. Nowadays the village also has trout farms using the natural water. You donâ??t have to eat in every night as there are several very good local restaurants serving fresh tro...
