Home from Home and by the Sea
We booked this cottage many months in advance as we know Charlestown is popular, I was all we expected. Carole is a charming host and was there to welcome us. We had fresh flowers and a Cornish Cream Tea to greet us. The cottage provides al you could want in the heart of a popular resort. It is tastefully furnished and equipped and is in the heart of the village 100m from the beach. Parking is outside, the village offers all you need for dining out and a drink be it a pub or coffee house seafood or a steak it is there. i Recommend the Rashleigh Arms. Buses can take you either way down the coast from the village. Make sure you visit Fowey. The cottage has a charming courtyard garden which is a suntrap. Thank you Carole for a lovely stay

Cosy Cottage
Had a great week, nice welcome from Carol. Very cosy with the fire on sheltering from storm Alex. Great location but would advise pre booking resturants at peak times during the current conditions.Sams On The Beach just down the road worth a visit as was The Rebbelion which is on the doorstep. Thanks to our hosts for the scones enjoyed them with a brew by the fire.

Restful hideaway in lovely location
Carole's cottage is in an ideal location, tucked away from the bustle of Charlestown but just a minute from all the amenities and the harbour. The little private garden is a sheltered suntrap even on windy days. Being collected from and taken back to St Austell station was a great bonus and a big help after a long journey. The accommodation is welcoming and comfortable, and the kitchen and bathroom are especially nice. We had a lovely stay.

Thank you so much for this lovely review. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and as we live so close to the railway station it is really no hassle to us to offer guests a pick up if they are travelling by train.

Drama and Quiet
We loved so much about this place! While we were there a lot of drama was created by filming Poldark and the quiet Harbour Village returned each evening. Plenty of things to do and places to eat within walking distance. Considering how busy the place was during the filming, parking was not an issue and the quietness was incredible. Malcolm warmly greeted us and showed us around. There is a fenced back garden with a lovely dining area and a place to sit in the sun. The cottage itself was clean, well maintained and well equipped. I loved the period features, fresh flowers in the windows, goodies parked in the fridge, wee washing machine, dishwasher, and the wonderful hot shower! Carole checked in on us and we enjoyed our visit. Thank you Bonnie and Dave

It was a pleasure to have these Canadian guests and we are so pleased that you enjoyed your time in the cottage and Charlestown. I so enjoyed the evening that I came to the cottage and we had a lovely chat about our families and I would really like to thank you for the help and advice you gave to me regarding my grandson. I hope that now you are back in Canada life is treating you well and you have had some more great times with your family. Love to you both, Carole and Malcolm.

A great cottage to stay in
Carole’s cottage is a lovely place to stay. It is wonderfully cosy and comfortable. Carole gives a very friendly welcome on arrival and is keen to help in any way she can. We would highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a holiday in Cornwall.

Perfect, you won't know unless you go!
Beautiful cottage, renovated to a very high standard, without spoiling it's original character. Charming and spotless.Sea views whilst laying in bed. Owners were so accommodating, nothing too much trouble. Cant wait to return. Lovely owners, thank-you so much Carole and Malcolm. Lots to interest locally, lovely gift shops, plenty of restaurants.Truro definitely worth a visit, great restaurant called 'The Cloisters', great menu, reasonable prices, highly recommended. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Mevigissy. As we rely on public transport, we made good use of the bus service, and being pensioners, well, say no more! Fab-u-lous holiday!

Thank you so much for your lovely review. You were such a delightful couple who we so enjoyed having as guests. The card you gave us is still sitting on my window sill at home and so I am reminded of you on a daily basis. I hope life is treating you kindly now that you have returned home and I also hope that one day we will meet again. Love to you both, Carole and Malcolm

Carole’s cottage
Carole who met us was lovely and it’s her cottage. The accommodation could do with a little updating but actually sat very well in the conservation area of Charlestown. Only one gripe which is a sad condition of modem life was there was no WiFi. To download movies or upload holiday photos

Thank you for your review. We have thought quite hard about whether or not to have WiFi but after consulting guests who have holidayed with us on several occasions we decided against it as the majority of the guests said that they liked to completely escape all the technology which can sometimes take over ones life. I hope it didn't spoil your holiday too much. WiFi is of course available free in the majority of pubs / restaurants in the village.

Perfect location!
Carole's cottage was well equipped, with a great bathroom! It is located in a lovely spot, set back from the hustle of the town and only a stone's throw from the beach. Perfect base for exploring Cornwall during the day and Charlestown has plenty of eateries to visit in the evenings.

Perfect Cornish Getaway
On the whole I always feel I'm quite reasonable but not overly generous with my reviews, so it's a rare occasion that I simply find somewhere I just cannot find fault with. So much so, I've actually hesitated for a while in posting this review based on the fact I don't want lots of people to find out about it ... like a crazed and jealous lover, I almost want to keep this just for me! Cottage is a beautiful old fishermans place, brilliantly renovated to mix the classical features with modern comfort. Gorgeous features Such as ornate fireplace, period decor and old kitchen clever use of the original toilet cistern as an unused feature were noticeable. The owners though have gone that extra mile too, on arrival in the fridge were milk, bottle of wine and the elements for us to have a traditional Cornish cream tea inclusive of fresh fruit scones and clotted cream. Bedrooms all comfortable with extra blankets available and new bathroom with rainfall shower head was divine. Still, this alone isn't why this place is easily 5 stars for me. The place also came with board games for the kids, an array of dvds (we didn't use them but great idea!) and a guestbook with reviews going back of repeat customers cooing over the place. It's easy to see why! The owners are who have made this absolute gem. Both were attentive and responsive to our emails in advance, calling me on the way down to check with us for arrival and also popping in to meet us as Carole hadn't been around in the afternoon. Just a lively touch, welcoming us to their home and it felt genuinely we were staying with a friend such is the atmosphere. I can't fault this place at all and in all honesty we were all sorry when it was time to leave. I have no doubts we'll be back !! Carole & Martin - please don't change this at all. You have a wonderful house and service. Well done
