About the neighbourhood
Positano possesses a dream-like quality that truly must be experienced to be understood. The charming pastel residences sit along narrow, winding roads on steep hillsides overlooking the Mediterranean. The village of Positano is located in one of the most beautiful valleys of the Amalfi Coast, and the valley opens up to an equally magnificent stretch of coastline. At the center of the pedestrian maze of cobblestone alleys and steps, you can see the traditional brightly colored dome of Santa Maria Assunta, the main church of Positano. If time permits, hire one of the small boats which will transport visitors to secluded bays only accessible by boat. Wander in to the many colorful boutiques, quaint cafés, restaurants, and wine bars. Be sure to try some of the town’s very popular Limoncello! Please Note: While the Amalfi Coast is beautiful and charming, it is also steep, with many uphill and downhill stairs and walkways. In general, it is an area that is not kind to those of us with knee or mobility issues. This should be considered before booking a property in this area. Nearby Attractions: Bus stops in town can take you up and down to other beautiful towns along the coast, including Amalfi. Amalfi is a town that dates back to the 6th century and was once an important trading center with historical and medieval architecture throughout the town. The main sites include the Duomo, in Amalfi's center, the cathedral of Sant' Andrea, which dates back to the 11th century, and the Cloister of Paradise. Three kilometers above Positano rests the small village of Montepertuso—perched on cliffs 1000 feet above sea level. Accessible by bus or stairs—an aerobic challenge!—you can admire beautiful views and see the legendary hole in the mountain; one of only three in the world. There are also a few restaurants. During the summer months, there are daily ferries leaving from Positano to Capri, Sorrento, and Naples.

Naples: 50 km/ 31 mi

Sorrento: 20 km/ 12 mi

Praiano: 8 km/ 5 mi

Beach: 500 m/ 1,640 ft

Food Stores: 200 m/ 656 ft

Positano: In Town
