Fabulous stay!
We had a wonderful trip to Vasto, Italy and this casa was the perfect home base. Tucked away, but just steps from the action, we loved it. James and Judy were fantastic hosts and had great recommendations on restaurants, shops, and things to do. If you're looking to experience real Italy, this is the place!

Ottima soluzione
James e judith fantastici. L’anno prossimo torneremo.

Thank you for this great review! We are so glad that you 'enjoyed everything'! Our casa is located in a quiet piazza only a stones throw from the lively bars and sea front restaurants with beautiful sea views and of course all the historic sights. All of this is detailed in our brochure that we send to every guest, so we are glad you found it all so helpful. Really happy that you found everything you needed in the casa too. We look forward to hosting you again when you return to Vasto! Regards, Judy and James

Cute house in the perfect location!
We just returned from our stay in this cute house in Vasto and we had an amazing experience!! Judy & James are super accommodating and provide TONS of information when you book to help you plan out your time in Vasto. They had great recommendations and always made sure we were doing well. Vasto is truly a delightful town not overrun by tourists (in June when we were there), friendly locals, delicious food and wine, and OH the BEACH!!! The sand is so soft (not pebbles) the water is the perfect temperature and no huge waves. Definitely pay the small supplement for air conditioning in the house, if you go in the summer. And make sure you book sufficient time there, we didn't want to leave!!

Thank you so much for this perfect review! We are so happy that you had such a wonderful time here for your wedding anniversary .Our beautiful beaches here in Vasto have just been awarded the Blue AND Green flags for 2019. I'm glad all your wine from the vineyard trip made it back to the USA in one piece! I think that when you have drunk it, you will just have to return for more. You are right, 4 days is really not enough to make the most of Vasto, there is so much to see and do. Next visit maybe a trip to the Trabocco for lunch, or a day trip to the Tremiti Islands? Hope to see you back again soon, Best wishes, Judy and James

Beautiful little gem
The property is in a good central location, close to shops, bars & restaurants in the beautiful old town. The beach is very clean and is about a 20 minute easy walk from the property, it's a good idea to get the bus back up the hill though. If it's too hot the local park is pleasant to sit in and opposite is a very nice Gelateria. Judy very kindly text us to see if we wanted the aircon switched on when the temperature got hot - we gratefully accepted and were pleasantly surprised by how quiet it was. If you don't drive we recommend getting the bus/coach to Vasto rather than the train as the station is much further away. Judy and James are very helpful and recommended local restaurants which cater for vegetarians.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write us this review. We are so happy that you enjoyed your time here in Vasto in our casa in piazza. Our recommended way to get to Vasto from Pescara airport if you don't drive (and don't want the hassle of getting a bus then coach then taxi or the train) is for us to send a car for you, it is super quick and hassle free! :) Glad you enjoyed the vegetarian restaurants here and the seasonal dishes, there is something for everyone in Vasto, (it's not all pizza and pasta here in 'real' Italy!) Hope to see you both again for more adventures in Vasto. Regards, Judy and James

Fantastic holiday!
We have just returned from a fantastic family holiday in the beautiful Vasto! The area is full of culture, architecture, gorgeous scenery and ideal for a proper real Italian feel holiday. The house has everything you need for a relaxing stay and is in a pretty little square in the historic centre of the town. It's within walking distance of restaurants, bars, shops, the beach plus lots more. Judy and James were excellent hosts - providing us with lots of ideas and information to make the most of our week stay. They were close enough to help with any problems but don't intrude. We found some great activities to do with our teenage and pre-teen kids including an adventure park in the hills and some lovely beaches. We will definitely return for another visit even if it's without the kids so we can explore more of the historic sights and chill out in the piazzas watching the world go by! Thanks so much for such a great holiday!

As you found out, Vasto is a fantastic place for a family holiday with lots to see and do, but I can see why you would like to come back without children so as you can try the wine tasting experience at the local vineyard, and the meal on a fishing trabocco and look round at the archeological sights etc We look forward to. welcoming you back very soon and sharing another bottle or two of prosecco! ciao, Judy e James

Perfect romantic hideaway in Vasto's historic downtown
Amazing hospitality, thanks for your friendly treat, James! Great central location, within town, car is not needed, perfect starting point for excursions in the neighbourhood or to the beach. The apartment is tiny but perfect for a couple or small family. Well equipped, loved the surprised on arrival - a bottle of local wine.

Perfect position, excellent hosts and comfortable house.
Judy and James are the perfect hosts: wecoming, knowledgeable about the area, and rightfully proud of the house they have carefully renovated in the small piazza minutes away from the breathtaking views from Loggia Amblingh. The house is tiny, but very comfortable for a couple. As it is in the centre, car parking is a tiny bit tricky, but as we were out of season, free parking was a matter of being patient and getting to know the immediate area. We were seconds away from 2 absolute delights: the passeggiata, particularly over the weekend, and the Loggia which is a walkway with marvellous views, and the possibility of enjoying a glass of wine at the same time.Vasto is lovely, but if you can, explore Molise and Abruzzo. The house is a perfect place to come back to after a long day's drive (the Gran Sasso is not to be missed) or the beach nearby.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this great review for us! We are so happy that you loved our Casa in Piazza and appreciated our renovations. I expect new houses in Australia are much larger than here in the medieval historical center, the casa is actually 65 square meters and has a very large bathroom, which is above average size for an Italian historical house. We often have families of 4 staying with us very comfortably too which represents remarkably good value for money. The house is located in the pedestrian only part of town (so nice and quiet) but as you say, close to all the wonderful views and attractions and most parking is only a 2 minute stroll away. We provide every guest with a parking map of not only the big car parks and the multi-story but also the free spaces around town. The free spaces are easily available except in high season at aperativo time when everyone is coming to Vasto for the evening passeggiata so you do have to get in first or be patient! There is lots to see and do in Vasto, but glad you had chance to explore the surrounding area. Lots of ideas on what to see and do locally and further afield are suggested in our Vasto PDF brochure provided to all guests prior to arrival. We hope you can visit us again and look forward to sharing another bottle of Prosecco with you, and of course some of my home grown olives! Regards, Judy e James

Perfect casa in wonderful, true Italian, piazza.
This is our second stay in this lovely house located in a really quiet and pretty piazza. The local residents take pride in their houses here and the piazza is dotted with flowers and olive trees. Although the piazza is very quiet, it is centrally located and there are restaurants, bars, boutiques and local shops all within a few minutes walk. We didn't have a car and spent the whole 2 weeks exploring around Vasto and enjoying the town. The owners were as helpful as last time reccommending new places for us to eat and new trips to try. We had a meal on the trabocco which was fantastic with lots of fresh local seafood. The Saturday local produce market is really good too and we stocked up on local cured meats, proscuitto and cheeses to bring home with us. We had a really great relaxing holiday, lots of walks along the beach too which you can walk to from the town. Already we are looking forward to returning next year. A most perfect holiday.

Thank you for taking the time to do us another fantastic review. We will start thinking of some new places for you to visit in Vasto for your visit next year! How about a picnic at the nature reserve at Punta Penna? ...Or why not come at the end of September for our patron saint festival? Or Christmas for the living nativity...! See you next year, best regards, Judy and James

Perfect House in a Perfect Location
This house is beautiful and in a perfect location to the old town of Vasto. The house is very well presented, spotlessly clean and everything had been thought of from linen to pots, pans, cooking essentials such as olive oil to dvds and beach toys for the children. We were very impressed with the owners Judy and James for their efficiency and accuracy in everything, they supplied us with a lot of information on Vasto such as local restaurants and places to visit, as well as parking, they were very thorough. They also kept us informed of everything that was going on in town so we didn’t miss out. We absolutely LOVED Vasto. We will definitely come back again. Thank you!

Map
About the neighbourhood
Vasto town is built on the Roman ruins of Histonium, and is a Medieval town with great charm and character. There is plenty to see and do in the town itself, churches and cathedrals, the Roman baths with mosaics, a Medieval Castle now housing a wine bar and restaurant, the lovely park with it's large duck pond and fountain and the Palace. There is also a running track, a tennis club, and indoor swimming pool and fitness club with gym, all within a few minutes walk of the house. If you are a foodie, then you will be in heaven in Vasto! Our local speciality is Brodetto alla Vastese, which is a fish stew, consisting of various types of locally caught fresh fish, prawns, langoustines, mussles, clams all cooked in local olive oil, garlic and tomato. Fresh fish is a speciality of Vasto as it has always been an important fishing port and the locally caught fresh fish is the best you will ever have! Another local fish dish is Seabass baked in the oven on a bed of rosemary potatoes. If you are not a fish lover, there is always porchetta - whole roasted suckling pig stuffed with rosemary, herbs and almonds or try a tagliata - sliced steak with cherry tomatoes, rocket and parmesan cheese. Don't forget to order a glass of local Pecorino or Trebbiano white wines to go with your fish, or a Montepulciano D'Abruzzo red to go with your steak! You can even visit the local vineyard here in Vasto for the afternoon for a wine tasting and a spot of lunch. On a Saturday morning there is a local produce market selling cheese, cured meats and fresh fruit and vegetables from the local farms. It is full of local characters and a great photo opportunity. There is also another Saturday market selling a variety of goods including leather bags and belts, clothes and shoes. There are plenty of pavement cafes and bars and restaurants to while away the days in, along with the many high class boutiques to window shop in, including Burberry, Gucci Jewellery, Marella, MaxMara and of course a huge array of beautiful shoe shops! There are museums, art galleries, a costume museum, archaeological gardens in the Palazzo. A large portion of the town is pedestrian only and therefore safe and quiet. A favourite pastime of the Vastese is the passegiata or evening stroll, where everybody dresses in their finest and strolls around the town chatting and stopping for aperativo with friends. Although Vasto is little known in Europe, it is an Italian secret, and a favourite summer destination of the wealthy Romans, who have been coming here for years, many having second homes here. It offers plenty to do for a long weekend or with the added bonus of the beach, a fortnights holiday. The Tremiti Islands are reachable by ferry (50 mins) which goes daily from Termoli and Vasto port in the summer. Here you can sit on the beach or hire a boat and go snorkeling or diving in the crystal clear water. Rome is less than 3 hours away, and can be reached by air-conditioned coach from Vasto bus station should you wish to have a day trip or over night stay there.Cultural events occur throughout the year, with festivals of music, classical and rock concerts, Jazz in the park, film festival and food festivals, along with historical pageantry dating back to the 17th century. The local saints day of San Michele is a festa held on the last weekend in September and is a massive celebration with bands, music, market stalls all ending the the biggest and best firework display you have ever seen! Almost all of these are free to attend or watch. Aqualand water park (15 minutes by bus)is one of the biggest in the region and has many fun slides and amusements. The closest beach is pebble and rock and ideal for snorkeling. The Blue Flag sandy Marina beach is gently shelving and ideal for children. Here you can find all amenities such as sunbeds, umbrellas, toilet and shower facilities, restaurants, snackbars, gelateria, motor boat hire and pedalo hire. There really is no need for a car here as everything you could want is on your doorstep for either a weekend city break or for 2 weeks on the beach!. We provide a full information brochure in the apartment with areas of local interest, maps, recommended restaurants and a full programme of events for during your stay.
