Hanover also offers plenty of green places to relax. One of the most popular is the artificial “Maschsee” in the south of the center. Here you can, depending on the season, go swimming, boating or ice-skating. In the western part of Hanover the Mountain Garden, the George Garden and the Large Garden form a green oasis. In the East of the city you will find the “Eilenriede”. This large city forest with about 600 ha is known as the green lung of the Hanover. The Hermann-Löhns-Park and the zoo are bordering on the “Eilenriede”.
Hanover is also one of the most important trade fair locations in the world. The fair ground, location of the Expo 2000, is situated in the southeast of the city.
