The double bedroom has plenty of storage with wardrobe and bedside cabinets. All linen is provided, towels can be provided for a nominal contribution of £2.00 per set, and on arrival guests will find fresh flowers and hand made flapjacks to welcome them. The cottage is an ideal base for couples wanting a real country holiday. The National Botanic Garden of Wales, and Aberglasney Gardens are ten minutes from the property; and it's only 4 miles to the picture-perfect town of Llandeilo. With over 50 traders in its extensive antiques centre, fortnightly auctions and a great selection of eateries offering everything from fine dining to bowls of hearty, traditional cawl, Llandeilo's guaranteed to be a place you'll want to return to, time and time again. The property is ideally located for walkers: there are numerous country routes that are accessible directly from The Old Forge, whilst others, such as the glorious 'Welsh Fans' and the Brecon Beacons can be reached by a short drive. The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, with its 170 miles of spectacular scenery is only a 45 minute drive to the west, whilst heading south will bring you to the beautiful Gower Peninsula. Just a 30 minute drive will take you to the Millennium Coastal Park, occupying around 10 miles of coastline on the Burry Estuary. The park offers superb views along its length of the Gower Peninsula – the first designated area of outstanding natural beauty in the UK. The Millenium Coastal Park offers a continuous traffic free cycle/footpath that links with the National Cycle Network; the National Wetlands Centre for Wales, and a championship links golf course. The Towy valley, is an area rich in history and there are many castles along the course of the river that tell the story of past battles: Llandovery; Carreg Cennen; Dynefwr; Dryslwyn; Llansteffan and Kidwelly, are all worth a visit whilst you're here. For those wanting to follow in the footsteps of the Welsh poet Dylan Thomas, the beautiful village of Laugharne is a short drive away, whe you can visit the boathouse, his writing shed (preserved as if he's just stepped outside) and Brown's Hotel. What better way to explore this part of Wales than by bike. Cycle along parts of the nearby National Cycle Network taking in beautiful scenery at a leisurely pace. For those seeking adventure, Carmarthenshire has become one of the most exciting places for the fast-growing sport of mountain biking: Brechfa Forest with its nationally renowned network of trails, is only 15 minutes away by car. The owners have close links with a local bike shop, where parts, repairs and even tours can be arranged with prior notice. Secure and covered storage for bikes will also be provided by the owners, and if you're caught out in the rain on the mountains, the owners are happy to provide drying facilities. More

Me & my boyfriend stayed here for 4 nights and we loved every second of it. Very clean, tidy and in such a peaceful location. Great escape from the urban world!! Very private and calming area. The garden is a bonus and if your lucky you may see some sheep's. Plenty of things to do and see around the area We cannot fault the location, the property is immaculate. Kitchen fully equipped, bedroom and bathroom spotless, everything provided, it's a home from home really. Only thing was no washing machine, so if staying longer period of time this may be problem, but however it is not the end of the world. The Host Bron was lovely, although we didn't get to meet her and her partner , the communication from the moment of booking till check out we'd give 5* Overall we had a great time and enjoyed our stay at the property. Time flew by so quickly, we didn't really want to leave!! Do not hesitate to book it because I promise you, you will not regret it! Thank you for hosting us Bron 😀

We had an amazing week staying at the Old Forge. The place was absolutely spotless which put COVID concerns to rest, and Bron was so welcoming. The location was perfect for exploring the Brecon Beacons and the Gower. I'd definitely recommend hiking around Llyn y Fan Fach and Llyn y Fan Fawr - stunning views!

Had a great week in the Old Forge! The accommodation was perfect for us and beautifully clean. We came with bikes and as well as being able to store them securely our hosts Bron and Steve also gave us some great ideas of local cycle routes. Wonderful traffic free cycle rides, we particularly loved the cycle to the Mumbles and Swansea. Did some lovely walks too, visiting Lyn y Fan Fach and Carreg Cennen Castle ( didn’t go in castle but did the circular walk followed by lunch in cafe.) Would love to return with the bikes and explore more of the area.

We booked the old forge on Air Bnb and loved our week staying at Bron and Steve's place. A nice touch of tea and coffee on arrival with irresistable flapjack that will defeat even the strong willed. Ideally situated for lots to see and do around Camarthen, Llanelli and Swansea and also striking distance to the Brecon beacons. You will not regret staying!

All the other reviews of the Old Forge are 100% accurate. I had a lovely time here and Bron and Steve were the perfect hosts. I have no negatives to say about the accommodation because there are none. I'd brought my bike and Bron/Steve very kindly gave me a key to the storage shed so I could store it safely. As keen cyclists themselves they also let me know of a traffic free route to the coast that starts at Cross Hand. It's about 13 miles each way and is a glorious ride all the way down to Burry Port or Pembrey Sands (couple of miles more) if you wish. I also cycled from the cottage to the National Botanical Gardens which is nice too. There are plenty of hills... on the way. I also did some walks from the cottage which take you through some peaceful forests. If you want some rest and relaxation and a chance to get away from it all I would recommend the Old Forge.

Well what a wonderful beautiful place. So clean, tidy and comfortable. It was a home from home. We came for a rest and that is exactly what we got. The cottage was fully equipped with all mod cons and more. We only go to met Bron, what a lovely lady, couldn't do enough for you. We had a bad trip up. We should have arrived around 20.30, but actually arrived around 23.45. Bron text us to make sure we were OK, and she stayed up for us to arrive. The cottage was warm and there was milk in the fridge. There was also freshly made flapjacks for us. Not many people would go to that much trouble. There was information on places to eat. Our favourite was the plough. Also leaflet on places to visit. What can we say a lovely visit, a place we will definitely go back too. And we will recommend them. Points out of 10. It's a 25. Fabulous

The Old Forge was clean and comfortable particularly the bed! The furnishings were good with plenty of storage space and the kitchen well equipped, although there was no washing machine. We did find the en suite wash sink quite small, but this was a minor inconvenience .We were greeted by Bron and made to feel very welcome. The fresh flowers and delicious Flapjacks were very much appreciated. The property has gardens surrounding it which are tastefully laid out with ample room for secure parking. The location is excellent with access to amazing scenery, interesting castles and two wonderful gardens - Aberglasney and the Botanical garden of Wales. The town of Laugharne and the beach at Llansteffan are also easily accessible.

A delightfully refurbished blacksmith forge. All we needed and more, the legendary flapjack , milk in the fridge, tea and coffee all ready waiting for us. Steve popped in to check all was Ok and explained how things worked. We were attending a family wedding nearby and the Old Forge was ideally located. My great find was the personalised map centred on the farm house, which was of immense help on the days we spent exploring the area ( I love maps and don't like Sat Nav). If you want peace sand quiet and a few sheep as neighbours this is the place for you. Bron was very helpful and easy to contact. We will be going back at some point. Thank you.
