About the neighbourhood
Bakewell is situated within the beautiful Peak District National Park, and is close to Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall.

Bakewell is a small market town (market day is Monday each week), with a range of independent shops. It also has a small supermarket (Co-op), and a convenience store (Spar) within easy walking distance of the property.

Bakewell benefits from a number of restaurants and pubs which all serve food. It has a park (with play area for children), a riverside walk and a public indoor swimming pool. Bakewell hosts many events throughout the year and details of these can be found on town website. Bakewell also has an excellent visitors' centre, where help and advice can be obtained.
Getting around
Bakewell has an excellent bus network, most bus stops are within 2 minutes walk from the cottage. Local railway stations can be found in Matlock, Buxton, Grindleford, and further afield in Chesterfield and Sheffield. National Express coaches stop at Chesterfield.

How to get there
Look for the mini roundabout in Bakewell (there's only one) with the Rutland Arms Hotel, and you need to take the exit for Buxton (A6), and then immediately after leaving the roundabout turn left up North Church Street which has 2 red phone boxes at the bottom on the right. Wainstones is about 50 yards up on the right hand side. It has a nameplate over the door, and is opposite the church yard steps.

A residents' parking permit is provided for one car, and parking is available on a first come first served basis.
