Bumble Bee Barn is a beautifully recently converted detached barn set in glorious gardens in a quiet hamlet mid-way between Matlock and Bakewell. It nestles just below Stanton Moor with the 9 Ladies Stone Circle and is the perfect get-away for couples seeking a romantic, tranquil and secluded break away from it all in a wonderful country setting and yet only ten minutes away from the country towns of Bakewell and Matlock. The lovely stone property which is 5 star, faces south with French doors from the large dining/sitting room opening onto a private patio (with table and chairs) overlooking the garden, ponds and adjoining land, with fabulous views up the valley towards the moor and also over to a wonderful wooded hillside which is sensational in autumn. The whole area is rich in wildlife, and you will often see the local deer grazing from your windows. This location is a bird-watchers’ paradise with pheasants and numerous wild birds including woodpeckers, especially the Greater Spotted Woodpecker, all the Bluetit family, Finches and the majestic Buzzard all to be seen from the gardens. Pet geese and free-range chickens are also kept in the field and lovely eggs are usually available for guests to enjoy. Great attention has been paid to every detail for your self-catering needs and a new widescreen TV with Freesat has recently been installed for your entertainment and free WiFi for you to retrieve your e-mails. No doubt you will also wish to try the local country pubs and restaurants in the area and there are many – full details will be provided of personally tried and tested ones when you book. Short breaks are booked over weekends and weekdays during the autumn, winter and early spring so you can get away from the city and work and have a relaxing break to recharge your batteries. Full weeks are booked during the summer months but sometimes last minute short breaks are available. Tried and tested recommendations for eating out are supplied to all guests. More

The 5 star character accommodation includes a spacious but cosy dining/sitting room which is tastefully furnished in chintzy style with two very comfortable sofas, an easy chair and a dining table and six chairs, a flat screen TV with Freesat and radio/CD player. A Derbyshire fireplace houses an impressive black stove with glowing coals - all the benefits of a real fire but none of the mess! Bumble Bee Barn has a farmhouse style craftsman built fitted kitchen in old pine with granite worktop and Belfast sink, Alpha range cooker/boiler which provides plenty of hot water, central heating in cold weather and of course cooker which is very simple to use. There is a built in fridge/freezer, washing machine and microwave together with plenty of crockery, pots and pans and an iron and ironing board. You will find a very pretty double bedroom with lots of character, plenty of storage space and a most comfortable bed with quality linen. A gorgeous white Victorian style bathroom with gold fittings, incorporating a bath and shower completes the accommodation. Safe parking is provided within the secluded gardens.

We had a wonderful few days at Bumble Bee Barn over Easter. The location is idyllic, very peaceful and ideal for visiting a few sites. The cottage itself is well appointed and has all the creature comforts!
