Nice house, centrally located.
Stayed in Moy Close a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed it. It’s a good base to explore the town and the local area – it’s comfortable, clean and central. The one negative, that I presume the owner can do nothing about, is there is a loose manhole cover in the road outside and the noise from every car and lorry that goes over it can be heard in the house. And whilst it’s not on a main road, Plunkett Road is used by a fair amount of traffic as it is an alternative route to get to the N26 and avoids the town centre and the one-way system. If you are coming from Knock airport this road meets the N26 4K before Foxford and is signposted Bonniconlon. It’s a prettier route than following the N26 although it’s narrower. Once you get to Ballina it leads into Church Road, which becomes Plunkett Road after a sharp right turn at the big church and Moy Close is on your right just before the Gala supermarket (on your left). The Gala is a very expensive supermarket, 100% or more than Lidl which is a five to ten minute walk away. The house is an easy walk from the town centre shops, local bars and restaurants. Dillons is a good restaurant although you probably need to book; it was full on a Tuesday night. The Cot and Cobble is also pretty good and doesn’t require booking. There are several good bars within an easy walk; round the corner on Abbey Street there is the Auld Shebeen and Breathnach’s and across the river in Pearse street there is Rouses. I’d avoid Katie’s bar on the corner of Plunkett Road the Guinness was very poor.

Second visit to Moy Close this year. Once again Martin the owner went above and beyond for us. Fantastic location to visit the west of Ireland, highlight of our trip was the ferry from Westport over to Clare Island, absolutely stunning scenery. We will be booking up again for our next trip.

Ideal in All Respects
We were a group of four men, using Ballina as a hub for golf in Mayo and Sligo. Martin was a pleasure to deal with, addressing our only issue (uncertainty about how to get the WiFi operational) promptly. In response to our question, he suggested we try An Sean Sibin, which turned out to be the best pub in Ballina and right around the corner. Everything in the house worked great, and the beds were really, really comfortable. Washer, dryer and dishwasher made chores easy (we stayed for two weeks). A perfect host and a really well set-up house in an ideal location - we couldn't have been happier. Would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thanks, Martin!

Excellent property in a perfect location
We spent a week at this property in May 2014 and were really pleased with all aspects of our stay. Communication with the owner was faultless; he even introduced himself by visiting the property a couple of days into our stay. The property was ideally located in the centre of Ballina , with a convenience store across the road and the River Moy less than a 5 minute walk away. The property had 4 good-sized bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a really well-equipped kitchen and dining room. The outdoor space was perfect for us (a family of 4 plus 2 grandparents) as there was off-street parking for 2 cars and a lovely enclosed garden. After visiting Ballina many times over the years, we would definitely choose to stay at this property in the future and only hope it is available for our next visit!
