Quaint cottage
We were at the cottage as my daughter was getting married to a local lad from Dundalk. We had a lovely time and went into Carlingford for the day lovely quaint cottage with all the amenities you could possibly need, with a lovely garden to relax in.

Full of charm
I stayed for two nights at McEvoy cottage and had a wonderful stay. The cottage is situated in a beautiful spot and it’s lovely to go to sleep at night without the sounds of the city. The cottage itself is beautiful and cosy, which is exactly my cup of tea. There are a few little things which are worn but this adds even more to the charm and ambience of McEvoy Cottage. I cannot wait to stay again; absolutely loved it!

cosy holiday cottage
Wonderfully atmospheric cottage with real fires and nice clean home from home facilities in all the rooms. We were attending a wedding in Dundalk and this suited us well. We were a family group aged between 25 years and 89 years and everyone enjoyed their stay. The ground floor bedroom was a great facility for the older members of our group. We thought the price to be just right and communication very good with owners quickly responding. Would recommend a stay here to friends.

Lovely Cottage, Stunning Location, Excellent Stay
We arrived from our drive from Dublin airport and got the keys as described from the key coded lock at the door. We were so pleased that we had chosen an authentic rustic cottage, with real log fireplace in a cosy living room, a great fully equipped kitchen with even some basic essentials to get us going, and lovely rustic bedrooms with en-suites to all. The cottage has wifi and digital tv and a good supply of CD's for the music system and a well stocked book case (if you get the time to read in between all the great walks you can go on from the cottage!). We were lucky with the weather and enjoyed the decking area in the back garden. The views from the cottage are amazing, the Coolie mountains one side and the Salt water Marshes on the other. We lit the prepared log fire one evening and sung irish ditties to really give us an irish themed holiday! The cottage is well situated to Dundalk (about 10 min drive to centre) and very close to attractions such as The Fitzpatrick pub, Magic mountain and the Long Womans grave, all which we visited. We were also welcomed heartily by the neighbour whom also looks after the linen and cleaning and she was helpful in directions to places, and to ask her if there were any problems. The cottage was very clean, had plenty of linen, iron and ironing boards, and all the basic equipment you'd need for a short rural stay. We will be returning to McEvoy Cottage next year and spend longer to explore and look forward to it!

Comfortable and enjoyable stay
We stayed at McEvoy house in June 2016 while attending a family wedding at Ballymacscalon Hotel. We house was conveniently near the hotel (c. 5 mins drive) and also very near Dundalk town and Carlingford. The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed for a very enjoyable stay.

Great location close to Dundalk - a real Irish cottage!
My husband and some friends of ours rented the cottage on a trip ro Dundalk for a wedding at Darver Castle. Accomodations are limited in the town so the cottage was perfect for a real taste of Ireland! We would stay again. Everything went smoothly with the rental. The place was in good condition. Don't expect shampoo, conditioner, etc... need to bring that!!

Lovely and comfortable!
Two couples enjoyed their relaxing and comfortable stay at the McEvoy Cottage. It truly is a beautiful spot and easy access to Dundalk and the Cooley Peninsula. The accommodations were great and they even had a grill! Just sitting in the cozy kitchen with the beautiful view of the Mountains of Mourne was delightful. I would say with humor, that guests should be asked not to feed the dogs, but I must admit I adored them!

Propery comfortable and ideally suited as a base for an enjoyable holiday.
Situated in a beautiful part of Ireland, McEvoy Cottage has been furnished and equipped to a good standard to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable holiday. Steeped in history we particularly liked the extensive background information that was provided in relation to the cottage and the family who own it. We were also impressed by the old traditional fire surround and open fire in the lounge which helps create a cosy atmosphere - lit prior to our arrival which was a nice touch. Had we visited during the summer months I’m pretty sure the large decked area and BBQ would have been well used – it certainly looked good. The peaceful setting makes the cottage a perfect place to relax and unwind but it is also suitable for those wishing to use it as a base to explore the surrounding area and to do that and for access the use of a motor vehicle is essential. The nearest town is Dundalk which is about 5 minutes away by car but there are also a number of other lovely places within a short drive such as Carlingford and Blackrock. Also both Belfast and Dublin are less than an hour’s drive - Black Cab tour and the Titanic Experience are a must if going to Belfast. We would also recommend a visit to Stone Age Passage Tomb at Newgrange in the Boyne Valley which is about 30 minutes away just off the road to Dublin. Prior to our visit we were told that local restaurants would pick us up and take us back – we were a bit sceptical regarding this claim but I can confirm that there are some that do in fact do that. Although we were there for a week unfortunately we didn’t manage to visit the Ballymascanlon House Hotel which is only a few minutes away by car – we were saving that for our last night but unfortunately we were invited to go elsewhere – it does however look impressive. All in all we had a great holiday and would recommend McEvoy Cottage to anyone looking for a quiet, comfortable holiday or a base from which to explore this lovely part of Ireland.
