A short distance from the Shortflatt Tower estate is Bolam Lake country park. The park has lakeside walks, woodland tracks and open grassed areas for all to enjoy. Coarse fishing permits can be obtained for a days fishing on the lake or trout fishing at Higham lakes fishery, which has a choice of 3 lakes and is only 5 miles away.

Getting around
Shortflatt Tower is in the middle of no where but the middle of everywhere. A short drive from the A696 which will take you into Newcastle or allow you to venture to the many attractions of Northumberland . Only 9 miles from Newcastle airport this offers a great way to arrive to the area or has a Metro line which runs to the city centre
