Upon arrival to Villa de Palmas, our nine (9) guests were visually greeted with exactly what we anticipated, total privacy & seclusion. The Property Manager, Maria led us into the gated property and provided a Welcome Tour. The temperature and cleanliness of each room was what guests should expect- above expectations. The pool house, pool, and beach were the most utilized amenities of our trip. They were all fantastic, private, and would please just about anyone! However, there appeared to be an undetectable entry way for the persistent bees and wasps that would frequent the main house throughout each day. They appeared to be most prevalent in the early afternoon hours. Nevertheless, this did not hamper our visit at all. The private, pink sand beach is to die for! During our ten (10) day stay, we saw a total of four (4) friendly people taking a walk from one of the other beachfront residences. This is by far a beach lovers’ dream! The addition of another trash barrel would’ve been ideal, as there was only one (1) available. We did not want to hound our Property Manager each day regarding the pickup of trash considering we cooked for nine (9) each day. Also, there were three (3) LARGE, semi-aggressive dogs that would frequent the property at random times knocking over and tearing through the trash barrel. One (1) was a Great Dane that charged as we walked from the pool house, past the cottage, to the main house. The trash barrel was originally at the cottage; it was moved to the pool house bathroom to avoid further activity. This was by far our single, largest concern as the dogs were observed various days emerging from the palms in front of the main house, running toward the cottage and beach area. In conclusion, our stay was very much well worth it. If you are seeking privacy, seclusion, and quiet coupled with every amenity possible - this is the place to stay! Bruce, Dhjanna, and Property Manager Maria were all prompt & thorough in their responses to our inquiries. I would most certainly seek another stay at Villa de Palmas upon our next trip to Eleuthera.

The property was stunning with plenty of room for our group. We loved the location and the gorgeous beach. The house is well kept and the grounds were beautiful. There was plenty of room for our party of 7 and after renting the entire estate, everyone had their own room and bathroom. We felt very safe. The only negative thing I can say is the house could probably use a coat of paint, salt air is so hard on things, and the tile on the pool house patio and steps is extremely slippery when wet. There were few issues that effected our stay. First, the entire island uses bottled water and every other property we have ever stayed on Eleuthera provides a 5 gallon bottle and pump for fresh drinking water, but that was not the case here. To make matters worse, you cannot just go to any store and buy a 5 gallon water bottle, you have to have one to exchange. Since we didn’t have one from the house we spent the better part of an entire day trying to find somewhere we could purchase a 5 gallon bottle (apparently they don’t like selling them to tourists). We found one at 4 your convenience in Governor’s Harbor, but it took us all day to do so. Also, we had no pump (they were $45 at the store and I wouldn’t have had room to bring it home) so that was a major inconvenience as well. When you spend as much as we did for our stay, this is something you shouldn’t have to worry about. Second, the house had no ice trays so during our stay, we had to purchase ice at $6/bag. Ice trays are relatively cheap, and in my opinion, when you’re in a place where you cannot drink the water from the sink, they should be provided. Third, you’re on an island so the internet is super spotty. The pool house wifi never worked and the cottage and main house went down quite often. Keep this in mind if this is an important feature for you. Fourth, the pool house sink was broken for the first week of our stay which was very inconvenient, but Bruce and the housekeeper Maria moved as quickly as island time and parts availability would allow to rectify the situation even though Bruce was overseas on vacation himself. Finally, the last day we were there the power went out all day. We could not alert Bruce or Maria because no power also meant our internet was down. Luckily we were traveling with an engineer who figured out how to get us to solar power temporarily until the power could be restored. As soon as we contacted Maria she came quickly to fix it. All in all we had a blast!

The property owner, Bruce, was extremely communicative. He assured me the oceanfront pics were accurate and my gosh was he on point!! The beautiful pink sand beach and access to it was as promised!! The estate was absolutely lovely and the grounds were beautiful. There were 11 of us so we enjoyed use of the main house, cottage and pool house. The views from all 3 houses were spectacular. Maria, the property manager, was also accessible when needed. Overall, 5 stars for these owners and their property!

The views and property were amazing. If you are looking for a very private personal resort then you found the right place. The pool house and cottage are newer and are recently renovated. The pool and beach are fantastic. We originally booked it for a party of 8, but had 5 drop out. We each had our own house and gathered in the main house for meals on property and generally to hang out. The property is a very short drive from Governor's Harbor to the north, as well as other sites to the south. It doesn't take as long to traverse the island, as indicated on Google maps. It's about 15 minutes to GH and maybe 1:15 from ELH. We made regular excursions out of Gene's Bay without issue. The property would probably accommodate 6 couples.

The view of the property is beautiful The pool area looking over the ocean is unreal. The house needs some updating. The mattresses are to soft for sleeping. The bugs coming in from the open ceiling area is not good and there are no comfortable beach chairs.

Location on the beach is awesome. The compound is beautiful with lots of trees, pretty view, central location on the island and ample lounge furniture. Our issues with this place really came to the cleanliness, condition of some of the property, and communication with manager. Unfortunately a lot of things are broken or not working properly. I can imagine it is incredibly difficult to maintain a home of this size in the Bahamas. The list of things not working includes the screen to the back door, windows in bathrooms, Wi-Fi in pool house, television in pool house, and a hole in roof causing minor leak in main home living room. The ice machine by the pool was not in operation nor were the fountains by the pool. The ac in the Master bedroom remote didn’t work and the unit struggled to cool the room. The dishwasher looks as though it has been damaged previously. While there we had the oven and dryer stop working on us and then would begin working again later with no reasoning. These were all fairly minor things in our eyes, but the issue really came with the pool. The pool vacuum was never plugged in while we were there. When we communicated this to the property manager we were told that it was working and the pool was clean however it was visibly getting dirtier. Eventually she came to check on the pool and started to blame us for messing with the pool vacuum. When she set it back up it was still not able to collect all the bugs and dirt in pool as we had a massive termite night the night before (termites came in swarms after a storm). We then spent many hours skimming it ourselves as it did not seem any pool cleaning functions were in operation. It was disappointing to us that the pool system was not better, but that the property manager was quick to blame us for the issue rather than focusing on fixing the issue. Lots of the towels and sheets were stained and most dishes in the cupboards were not clean. We were fine to have to clean some things up and maintain the pool, but it was just not as we had expected per the listing. Communication with the owner was excellent, but there was a bit of a disconnect with the property manager unfortunately. Eleuthera was a fun adventure as this was our first time. The farmers market nearby was excellent and had some great bread on Saturday. We also did snorkeling at Ten Bay Beach nearby and our own beach. Overall we had a great time, but these listed things cause our trip to be a bit less than perfect.

Wonderful place, we had three families with us and the place had great space for all. Privacy + places to get together. Pool was a big hit with the kids. Beach is second to none, private and worthy of any postcard!
