The private terrace behind the gite enables guests to eat or relax whilst looking out over the countryside beyond the large garden area. The property is ideal for four people but has often been used by couples who can then enjoy having their own bathroom. Bedrooms are on the first floor with the seating, eating and kitchen area downstairs.More

Interaction with guests
The gite is attached to our property which is our permanent residence in France and we can offer advice on leisure pursuits and places to visit. If you want to spend some time tasting the wines of this area which is the third largest wine producing area in France, then we can help with advice and arrange tours if necessary. The area is flat and therefore ideal for cycling and there are a number of signed routes and guides with suggestions on places to go with details on difficulty and time required to complete the ride. There is also information on places to stop for refreshments etc.

About the neighbourhood
The gite is situated in a small village of around 1000 people but there are a number of shops within a short walk where you can buy your fresh bread and the general store has a wide range of products available including fresh fruit and vegetables. Two larger towns are within a 15 minute drive and driving for just over an hour will take you to Poitiers, Tours or Angers, which are all different and well worthwhile visiting. For horse lovers we have the Cadre Noire in Saumur, the birthplace of Coco Chanel and this is about 40 minutes away. Saumur has a number of top class restaurants and other good restaurants can be found nearer here. There is a new Centre Parcs within twenty minutes from here and daily tickets are available.
Getting around
Visitors to the area will need a car as public transport from the village is not very good. Thouars which is just over 15 minutes away has transport links by bus and train and you can travel to Paris from there, as we ourselves do. Car hire is available from a number of outlets in the area including the major supermarket chains and prices are competitive.
