Casa Aloe is located on the edge of the beautiful village of Atalbeitar, minutes from the Sierra Nevada National Park. The views from the house are magnificent.
Tom and Carmen ( the owners) are both artists, and have delighted in creating a space that is charming and harmonious. 'We have spent the last 10 winters restoring the house with all our love and care, and so we are very happy when people come and enjoy it'.
It makes an ideal holiday base for lovers of beauty and nature, as well as Andalusian culture.
It is popular amongst artists and walkers, and it´s proximity to the Sierra Nevada National park, offers a whole range of outdoors activities in a stunning location.

It is popular amongst artists and walkers, and it´s proximity to the Sierra Nevada National park, offers a whole range of outdoors activities in a stunning location.
Atalbeitar is a delightful white and ancient village that date from the time of the Moors, it's in the famous Alpujarras valley, and it's situated on the South facing slope of the highest mountain in Spain and only 50 km. from the Mediterranean coast.
The village has ancient donkey lanes and a charming square which fountain water that comes from a spring. It is car free, and a haven for walks and children games.
About Casa Aloe:
The house has been recently restored using traditional materials in original ways, with beauty and comfort in mind. Chestnut beams, bedrock corners and many unique touches give it a rustic charm.
It has a swimming pool, at last! and it is heated in the colder months.
The system we use to purify the water is sand and salt, so your skin and eyes will be kindly treated here. It has also a hydro-massage and swimming against the current system so that you can exercise and feel revitalised and restored.
There is an interior patio, shady and plant-filled to escape the heat of the midday summer sun, where there is a Barbecue available for your use.
And two large terraces with spectacular views, the main one is totally baby, toddler and child proof, as we now have a toddler ourselves!
And speaking of children, we have toys for them too, like a large dolls house with Sylvanians and a tricycle! and as the village is car free you can enjoy giving them rides through all the exciting labyrinthian streets...
In the evenings explore the variety of restaurants and bars in our valley, where the tradition is to give a free 'tapa' ( plates of food specialities) with every drink, and where often you can catch an evening of local music.
Get cosy beside the open fire, eat out on the terrace under the pergola with the uninterrupted views of the valley beneath you, explore our selection of games, or just relax and read a book.
But we also have 2 televisions and a home cinema system, with many channels where you can watch many programs and films in the original language.
A DVD player is available too with some DVD's for your enjoyment.
There is also WIFI if you need to catch up with your life from one of the terraces whilst watching the views.....
Enjoy the cultural experience of an Andalusian village, whilst having the peace and quiet of a rural retreat if you so wish.
There are a number of horse-riding places either for novices or the fully-experienced (or both together), also there's a tennis court not far, and we can point you in the right direction for unforgettable walks with incredible views.
There are in the house, as well as other suggestions, a collection of maps with exciting detailed walks via the moorish paths.

Further details indoors:
The swimming pool is semi-indoor, meaning that in the cold months we close it up so that it is indoor and heated...and in the warmer months it is open to the leafy coutyard with access to the sunny terraces.
It always has a roof. We have done it this way because these days we believe the sun is harmful and the water takes away the protection creams, so this way you and your children can swim all day without getting sun damage and then go to the sun deck and put your protection cream.
ACTIVITIES:
There are local people that provide a number of interesting activities, like flamenco classes, horse riding, specialised walks, etc.
Any other interests please let us know.
Perfect for mountain biking also.

We have stayed in dozens of rented holiday homes all over the world, but never anything like Casa Aloe! The house itself is in two parts - some of the rooms are separate from the main house and can only be accessed via an external...More
We had a lovely time here over Christmas.
The house is eccentric with different levels and low doorways but you soon become accustomed to this. It is a house of great character and charm.
We enjoyed the wood burning stoves. The kitchen is well equipped....More
The most eccentric, eclectic holiday home you are ever likely to visit. And it is a home rather than a holiday house. Tucked away in the tiny village of Atalbeitar, the surroundings are idyllic. My only advice would be to go for two weeks rather...More
Casa Aloe is the perfect base for a visit to the Alpujarras: at the edge of a small village with uninterrupted views from the terrace; complete quiet (no traffic and few tourists); walks direct from the front door; a pool for those who want to...More
This place was astonishing. Located in the twisting medieval passages of the village, looking out over the Sierra Nevada, and filled with beautiful things; I've never been anywhere quite like it. On our first day Tom came round bringing a gift of olives taken from...More
Another lovely visit for our family in Casa Aloe: leisurely walking, vigorous hiking, mulberry and wild plum poaching, ingesting scenery, loving the house, cooking, eating, conversation with a view, playing in the pool, quiet, meditation, social club, visiting, learning, forgetting.
Casa Aloe reminds us that...More
After traveling for a few months and staying in various places I have to say that our stay in Atalbeitar gets the cup. It is one thing to rent a room or a house somewhere and be content, it is something else to want to...More
We are a group of musicians, photographers, nature lovers, tree huggers, artists, cooks, poets, fresh market connoisseurs, cool-water-from-the-town-fountain dippers, and mostly self-described bohemians. Our recent visit to Tom and Carmen's charming house, Casa Aloe, accommodated us and all of our needs. It was like coming...More
Our week at Casa Aloe was a wonderful escape from daily bustle, responsibilities and miserable weather...
Being the end of January, you could hardly call it scorching in the mountains, but the light was glorious, and the top of the day really was warm. More...More
