This is the ideal base for nature lovers and walkers who want to explore the beautiful Dales National Park as well as for visits to the brewing centre of Masham, the historic town of York, Medieval Abbeys at Rievaulx and Jervaulx, magnificent country houses (Castle Howard and Beningborough Hall) and breathtaking natural landscape features - Aysgarth and Ingleton Falls, Brimham Rocks Spennithorne is a thriving village situated on the edge of the Dales National Park. The market town of Leyburn is 2 miles away and offers a variety of hostelries, excellent food, shopping facilities and craft workshops. Each of the Dales making up the National Park [Wensleydale, Swaledale, Wharfedale, Littondale etc] has its own individual character, which changes with the seasons and even from hour to hour, depending on the light.
