Condo/Apartment
This newly renovated, fully-equipped 3-bed and 2-bath apartment on the 1st floor(2nd floor US) of a historical neo-gothic building just around the corner from the Charles Bridge is for up to 8 guests(9 including a baby), and at the same time caters to a smaller, more demanding group or family that wants to have Old World style but in a modern, functioning flat. There are three connecting rooms: the master bedroom with king-size-bed(european), the living room/sitting room with fireplace(bio-ethynol means real flames but no smoke), cable TV, and a large pull-out sofa(double-bed size), and then the large bedroom with two queen-size beds. The master bathroom has a tub and shower, his and her vanity sinks, and a washer and dryer concealed behind a decorative side panel. The second smaller bath also has a sink, shower, and toilet, and both have heated floors. Complementary Wifi works throughout the flat. The fully-equipped kitchen is perfect for making large meals, or just for a coffee and small breakfast in the morning. Iron and ironing board, all towels and washcloths, and extra bedding are of course provided. Smoking is not permitted in the flat, but we have a small balcony which is perfect for that. We think that you will appreciate the level of detail that Mark & Mirka put into the flat, from the choice of linens for the beds and selection of furnishings (we have two art noveau chairs in the kitchen) to the extensive restoration of the ceiling décor and the matching chandeliers. As with all properties, 'genus loci' is the most important thing, and this flat has got it in large amounts. It is the perfect place to begin and end a walking tour of the beautiful city, and the quaint street has got great cafes, fantastic wine bars and restaurants, and even though it's close to the famous bridge, the neighboorhood has managed to hang on to much of its local character.

Disappointing
The pictures posted on the site are deceiving. Starting with the small bathroom. As stated it is in the entry way. The sink is extremely small, no more than approximately 6 inches. When you bend over the sink to get rid of your toothpaste, be carefull of the shelf directly over top as you will hit your head on it trying to get to the sink. The shower door opens into the bathroom itself resulting in a soaked floor from the water dripping on the floor. The distance from the shower to the toilet is about 2 feet. In order to look in the mirror you need to straddle the toilet with one leg. In reality this bathroom is no bigger than a small clothes closet. The living room. The front legs of the chairs are broken so you slide forward whrn sitting in them. The dvd player is only there for appearance as is doesnt seem to work. The kitchen. We set one of the chairs in the corner so no one would sit in it and fall through. The balcony. Looks nice in the pic but over looks the garbage in the alley below. Sit inthe chairs at your own risk and the balcony itself for that matter. There is also a clothes line directly above that should clothes be hung out would be right above. The main entrance to the building reminds one of the slums. Graffitti on the walls and the smell of people smoking pot. One night it sounded like someone was trying to break in.

Oh no!! I'm so sorry that you were disappointed. Almost all of our reviews are five stars, so I really want to make sure that your concerns are addressed. The small bathroom is indeed not big, and it is advertised as such. Luckily this bathroom complements the large master bathroom, and most guests like that there is a second full bath, even if it is quite small. I am not aware of any furniture that is not stable, so we'll check that out immediately to make sure that repairs can be made if needed. And yes, there is some grafitti on the downstairs facade of the neo-Gothic building from the late 1800's. It is a shame, and it's hard to keep the sprayers away for long, especially after repainting. But at least the area is super-safe, but--- kids will be kids, I suppose... In any case, I do hope that you'll come back soon to visit our beautiful city. Thanks, M-

Perfect stay
We had a wonderful stay at the Karoline. It was myself, my husband, our 2 daughters and my mother and there was plenty of room and privacy for all. The hosts were gracious and helped arrange our transfers, showed us details of the area, even started us off with some milk and bread. The apartment was also decorated really cute … felt like home, was clean and had plenty of space for everyone. The location was prefect for exploring as well. I also felt very safe in this apartment. There was a flight of stairs to get to the room, which you should note if you're traveling heavy or with older or younger travelers. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. 5 our 5 for us!

A Hidden Jewel
A beautifully renovated apartment close to Old Town Square, Charles Bridge, and lovely cafes. You can walk anywhere from this location. Upon walking thru the doors we felt like a local. We were greeted by a friend of Mark's who showed us around the apartment and spent a little time with us going thru the maps and guidebooks. We opened all the windows and settled into our home for the next 5 nights. My family fell in love with not only the city but also with this apartment. At the end of our stay, we didn't want to leave, Don't miss an opportunity to stay in this lovely apartment, it truly has everything you need for a perfect stay!

Beautiful Apartment!
This apartment was in a perfect location to everything you would want to see in Prague. Everything was in walking distance! It's also exactly as the photos depict, clean, nicely furnished, and plenty of space for me and my two sons. I'd rate the communication an 11 out of 10 because not only were they immediately responsive they were proactive in contacting me several times to find out my arrival time and whether or not I would need anything. Prague is a very old city so don't be dismayed when you drive up and the outside of the building looks old with a little graffiti on the outside. The neighborhood is very safe (we were out all hours of the night) and it's the kind of building that would survive an earthquake. If I return I'd stay here again without hesitation.

This beautiful apartment fit the needs for three generations of our family.
This trip was a Christmas gift to ourselves and our adult children and grandchildren. Seven of us stayed here with ample room for all of us. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to visit...while pushing a stroller. The apartment was stunning yet warm and inviting. Food was waiting for us and as we arrived late in the evening this was appreciated. Mark (the owner) met all our requests...from providing a crib to arranging transportation to and from the airport. We will be reliving our memories of Prague every Christmas for years. The city was gorgeous and at Christmas it was storybook perfect! If we are lucky enough to return we will surely want to stay at this apartment again.

Wonderful Apartment
Stayed here with my husband, son, and daughter in law and loved it!! The apartment is beautiful! The owners have lovingly restored it, and it shows. Mark was very helpful and generous. He supplied us with some beer, wine, and morning baked goods to get us started. He also had lots of guidebooks and useful information on what to do in Prague. The location of the apartment couldn't be better. Just 2 blocks to the Charles Bridge, and there are some nice restaurants, a bakery, and small market close by. The apartment had a fireplace, and heated bathroom floors, which made our stay in March a little warmer. Thought this was a great find, and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Prague.

About the neighbourhood
We knew we had something special when we first set eyes on this diamond-in-the-rough. The elaborate but faded ceiling decorations were just screaming to be restored, and the original owner had left many of the original details in this old flat, such as doors, door handles, parquet floors, windows(including original glass in some of the windows-- look closely and you'll see the tell-tale 'waviness' in some of the panes. The layout was perfect--- three connected rooms, but all with their own entrances/exits, a large seperate kitchen, along with a small balcony. Located on the 1st floor of a neo-gothic buliding just around the corner from the famous Charles Bridge in the heart of the Old Town, but on a side pedestrian street, it just felt like the right place. We think you'll agree :) Prague's oldest Romanesque church is just across the street, 2 minutes to the National Theatre, 2 minutes to Charles Bridge, 5 mins to the Old Town Square. and the castle is just across the river.
Getting around
Public transport and walking is the way to go in Prague. Trams(electric trolley) and metro(subway) link up most of Prague, and you'll find most sights within walking distance of the flat.
Access
