About the neighbourhood
We are in the old and historic Jewish District of the city. If you visit Dohany Synagogue, a 10-minute walk from us, in the museum, you will see the Jewish Ghetto map. Our street was literally divided in the center with our side of the street, part of the ghetto.
District VII has turned into one of the most gentrified areas of the city with many new restaurants and clubs filling the blocks.
Culturally, we are within 10-15 minutes’ walk of the Opera House, Liszt Ferenc Academy, and other museums and synagogues.
There are dozens of restaurants catering to all budgets within blocks. There are five grocery stores within two blocks if you prefer to fix your own meals. You are welcome to use the kitchen.
It is possible to walk to most places from our apartment, but for those who need to maximize their time, public transportation is at hand.
Metro 2 or the Red line (of the 4 lines), is 2 blocks from us in one direction. In the same direction and across the street, there are 5 bus lines that stop on that corner.
Trams 4 and 6 are two blocks away in a different direction. Tram 6 is 24 hours.
Both Keleti (Eastern station) and Nygati (Western) Train stations are less than one mile away.
