Holiday Rental House
The Moonflower Suite, part of Hibiscus Beach, is a 2 bedroom house on the beach with a spectacular view of the Caribbean. Situated on the Placencia Sidewalk, it is within walking distance to dozens of local restaurants, bars, shops, and tour operators. This listing is for the main (upper) floor of Moonflower only. There are 2 separate apartments available for rent on the ground floor should you require more space. There's not another property like this in Placencia. We've kept the two lots separating Moonflower from the sea vacant and without obstruction to provide a large, extended private beach. There is also parking- a rare commodity for sidewalk residences- should you choose to rent a car or golf cart, though you'll find everything you need within walking distance. Placencia has earned the moniker: 'Barefoot Perfect.' This describes not only the beaches and affinity of locals to forgo shoes, but also its laid-back lifestyle. Locals are charming, friendly, and extremely accommodating. Violence is almost unheard of on the peninsula, but petty theft is a reality. Please be conscience of your belongings and secure the residence when stepping out.More

Interaction with guests
Hibiscus Beach has 24/7 presence. Our groundskeepers, Jaime & Gerison, keep the beach free of seagrass and detritus and our security guards Edward & Daniel patrol the grounds at night. Our hospitality manager, Ms. Joyce, is long-time Placencia resident and is available to answer any questions our guests may have about Hibiscus Beach or Placencia in general and can assist in booking tours and suggesting adventures.

My wife and I arrived at the Moonflower on February 16th excited to start our BEACH vacation. The unit on the second floor was exactly as pictured. A beach house. A little austere perhaps, but comfortable enough. After a quick look around, down to the...More

Admittedly, Terry, your review is spot-on. The sargassum seaweed has plagued Belize, and the entire Caribbean, for a few years now. It hit Placencia in early February and just now (Mid March) is beginning to recede. It's arrival and persistence has become as unpredictable as...More

About the neighbourhood
Placencia has its roots as a fishing village and fishing remains a vital part of its economy. Fisherman sell their catch each evening at the point and to local restaurants. There are no chains here- no big box stores, no McDonald's. Everything is fresh and local. Small vegetable & fruit stands abound, as do eateries and small shops. Take in a soccer game at the field in the village's center. Grab a cocktail at a thatch-roofed bar and experience the local fare at one of the dozens of open-air restaurants on the beach, sidewalk, and main road. Local tour operators offer excursions to go fishing, snorkeling, diving, tubing, hiking, zip-lining, paddle-boarding, and just about any other outdoor activity you can think of. Happy Exploring!
Getting around
Hibiscus Beach is located on the Northern (quieter) end of Placencia Village. The Village itself extends only about 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile south of us before the peninsula terminates, so we are well within walking distance to anything in Placencia. Bicycles are really the best way to get around- especially when carrying goods from the local markets or convenience stores. They rent for about $10/day at Capt. Jak's Rentals (about 100 yds. from Hibiscus Beach). If you wish to go exploring up the peninsula, golf carts are available for about $65/day.
