This property is more beautiful than described, and the owner and staff are incredibly attentive and welcoming. We had a group of Americans and Guatemalans both, and we were all delighted. The steps were challenging for our very elderly parents, but otherwise great exercise for the rest of us. Lots of little food shops nearby and walking distance to a great beach. The views from the home were absolutely incredible of this magical lake.

From making the booking to checking out everything went flawlessly. Murray the owner quickly responded to all communications. The property is located on a hill so there is a short walk up to the house that would be tough if you have mobility issues. There is a main house and two adjacent bungalows and we used them all. The house is stocked with all that you'll need. The views are spectacular and we spent time just relaxing and enjoying the sunsets. We always walked into town, 15-20 minutes. This is a wonderful home in a magical place. Muchos gracias.

Our family of 5 loved our stay. Murray (owner) & his staff did everything to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Waking up to the incredible view of the lake & surrounding volcanoes was priceless. My husband & I spent one of our days reading & relaxing while our 3 kids went off on their adventure. Highly recommended when visiting Lake Atitlan!

Our party of 4 really loved this place! There are 3 houses, all come with fantastic views! The gardens here are also very well done - the variety of flowers and plants will have your head spinning. The location is great, and parking was easy. We drove to Calle Santander and caught the ferry to San Juan and San Pedro, and enjoyed lots of restaurants in Panajachel on Calle Santander. We opted for the "cena tipico" and Otelia made us a fantastic meal. It was a dream weekend. Murray and his staff were extremely helpful, providing easy directions and even helped my mother with her bags coming up the steps. Muchas gracias! We loved it!

We were a group of 6 that stayed here for 3 nights, so we had the main house, bungalow, and casita. The previous reviews and the photos are all accurate. The property is very well maintained, the owner and caretakers are helpful, and the washer-dryer much appreciated after our muddy trip to Tikal/Yaxha. The interior was a clever blend of Western and Mayan styles. We needed some instructions on using the shower in the casita, but everything else was perfect. The house is located in a residential section. We walked to and from the main part of town everyday... until the last day, after hiking the Upper Mayan trail. I wish we had realized sooner how fast and cheap the tuk tuks were. The owner helped us arrange van transport from Guatemala City. The driver safely and easily navigated the curvy roads into Panajachel in the dark. (Other people we traveled with had a less pleasant experience with their driver, booked through an agency.) On the ride back to Guatemala City, the driver stopped at a few points to show us some scenic spots for photos. The entire experience from inquiring and booking all the way through transport back to GC was easy and smooth. It was the perfect end to our Guatemala trip. If you're looking for a relaxing trip to Lake Atitlan, I highly recommend staying at Casa Juana!

I was there with 5 friends to celebrate my birthday. It was perfect in every way. We all gathered at the main house and it was so nice for everyone to be able to get away to the privacy of their own cottage. The house was well equipped. Nothing was lacking. The views and the atmosphere were superb. The staff was very warm and helpful. The proximity to the main part of town worked well...very walkable. I'd definitely go back.

I highly recommend staying at Casa Juana if you are visiting Panajachel. Having stayed in a beautiful villa overlooking the lake the previous year, we were skeptical that we would find any other place to be as perfect, but we found it in Casa Juana. If you like the convenience of being in the touristy part of town, close to the action, then you might not like the location and solitude here. But if you enjoy watching the dawn come gently over the lake and volcanos while you enjoy your morning coffee, if you enjoy watching the sun disappear into the clouds behind the mountains in the evening, if you like being surrounded by beautiful roses, bougainvilleas, flowering trees and bushes and enjoy hearing the birds call early in the morning, then you will love Casa Juana. Inside, the casita has been decorated with a decorator's eye, reflecting the Guatemalan culture through the furnishings, weavings, pottery and pictures. The gardens surrounding the property are lovingly cared for by Miguel, the caretaker, who will see to it that you have everything you need, Miguel and his wife, Otilia, that is. Along with the property owner, Murray, we felt warmly welcome and well cared for. Not only did Otilia clean the casita every day, she did our laundry and prepared a traditional Guatemalan dinner for us in our kitchen one evening. That was indeed, one of the highlights of our stay at Lake Atítlan. Aside from that very special dinner, we also enjoyed eating at the restaurant El Sol, a Japanese restaurant conveniently located at the end of the street. Murray, who resides on the same property, lined me up with a very good Spanish language tutor and answered all our questions about where to shop. We arrived late in the evening and found the kitchen stocked with coffee for breakfast, a basketful of wonderful fresh local produce and a bottle of wine. We felt at home. Two things to be aware of: There are 121 steps from the road to the casita. They add to the ambience and allure of the property and make possible the incredible view. They are also a good workout. The other is to be sure and wear long pants and long sleeves or insect repellent when you are in the garden.
