During the Summer months of June through August guests can catch both sunrises and sunsets right from the private beach. Turtle season typically begins Mid-June through October. Enjoy an amazing starlit sky most nights, count shooting stars and gaze at the Milky Way and Big Dipper that appear close enough to touch. If you are a marine life enthusiast the snorkeling and diving allow glimpses of whale sharks the world's biggest fish, dolphin's, manatees, eagle rays and hundreds of other species found in the Caribbean.

In turtle season, our quiet hours after sunset 7PM. We have special turtle lighting for guests and we kindly ask that guests turn off indoor lighting and outdoor lighting when departing from their bungalow at night. Please remove shoes before entering bungalow. No smoking on property.

About the neighbourhood

Turtle Beach Sanctuary is in the Pumpkin Hill Beach area. This area is on the North side of the island and is one of the newest areas to be developed. It is quiet, always breezy and relaxed, yet only a quick 8 minute drive into town. Utila town has often been referred to as the Mayberry of the Caribbean. It has no chain fast food joints, only a few Mom and Pop shops, waterfront restaurants and bars. Utila is one of the top places in the World for scuba dive instruction and has over 14 dive shops around town to choose from. It is no wonder as Utila is set on the largest barrier reef in the Western Caribbean!

Getting around

Vehicle rentals available such as golf carts, four wheelers, scooters or beach cruisers. The island is small and folks that love to walk or ride bicycles will feel right at home. There is also a small on call taxi fleet called "Tuc Tucs" that generally cost between $1-$5 USD depending on distance traveled.

How to get there

Saturday And Wednesday’s direct flights are available on CM Airlines from the mainland International Airport of San Pedro Sula. (Most major airlines fly into SAP). From the nearby island of Roatan daily ferry (Utila Dream) departs Roatan at 3PM to Utila. (Most major airlines fly into RTB). There are also private puddle jumper charters available from Roatan to Utila. Just ask us and we will direct you to a local travel agent for these types of bookings.
