Fantastic retreat at the foothills of and Andes
My husband and I, my son, and my sister and her son stayed at the guest house and had a wonderful experience. The pictures do not do justice to the beauty of the estate. We definitely want to return when the weather is less rainy. Enjoyed the wine country, wonderful meals made by chef Mateo, and a bull roast at a local restaurant. Lizette, our tour guide, made sure we were comfortable and managed our sight seeing. If you are considering a visit to the Maipo River valley, this is the place to stay while touring the surrounding area.

Beautiful, lush and relaxing
I recently spent several days at Casa Ishi before a hiking trip to Patagonia. Casa Ishi is a wonderful contrast to Patagonia: calm and peaceful and sunny, a great place to relax before a more arduous trek. The grounds are spectacular with lush, beautiful gardens. Delicious fresh fruit grows on the property and there’s even a traditional Chilean mud oven for cooking pizza, empanadas, etc and a huge stone barbecue, both located in a nice shady spot under a big old walnut tree. Our rooms were perfectly appointed and lovely. The hosts are very attentive and know how to make their guests comfortable and happy.

A lovely retreat in the country close to Santiago, wineries and the Maipo Valley
We traveled with family and friends to Chile in March 2016 and stayed in Casa Ishi for 5 days. From the moment we arrived, Michelle made us feel welcome and went out of her way to make sure our needs were met. The house is on a large, beautiful property that also includes the owners’ house and the caretaker’s house. There are 3 friendly dogs on the property. The house is on a hill with the living room and full kitchen on the ground floor and 3 bedrooms with 2 full bathrooms on a lower level. All rooms have a great view. There is a second apartment attached but separate with a king bed, full kitchen, and full bathroom. The view is fantastic! If was very relaxing to sit on the terrace and look out at the waterfall and sip some Chilean wine. During the day it was too hot to sit on the terrace in the sun and we moved to the cool garden under trees. There were surprisingly few insects and we had a total of 2 bites each after 5 days without any repellent and keeping windows and doors open. Our sleep quality was excellent – only an occasional dog bark or noisy motorcycle broke the sound of the waterfall across the river. The location was excellent for tourists. It took us about 30 minutes by car to get to Santiago. The Maipo valley attractions are just up the road. Concha y Toro winery is 10 minutes away.

Gorgeous country retreat
My wife and I recently spent a few days at Casa Ishi. What we most enjoyed was the opportunity to do both country and city at the same time. One particular day we arranged for a car to take us in to Santiago ( a little under an hour) where we visited the wonderful Museo del Arte Precolumbina and the quite moving Museo de la Memoria. After a delicious lunch at a restaurant recommended by the owners of Casa Ishi, we spent the afternoon at La Chascona, Pablo Neruda's home in Santiago - a fascinating place. We were picked up by the driver and delivered back to the beautiful grounds of Casa Ishi where we could pick a few grapes from the arbor and relax on our deck with a view of the valley below us. A perfect day.

I LOVE Casa Ishi!
I LOVE Casa Ishi!!!! It’s the perfect hideaway in the middle of it all - a stone’s throw from some really fantastic vineyards and beautiful mountain vistas. Our favorite was a day spent at the nearby Santa Rita Vineyards where we had a fantastic lunch at the historic Dona Paula Restaurant - amazing scenery, unbelievable pre-Columbian museum and a delicious meal to boot. Returning home to Casa Ishi was a pleasure - sipping our newly purchased vintages under a trellis covered in vines with ripe grapes for the picking. Great location, beautiful grounds, immaculate and comfortable rooms, and the owners are the consummate hosts. Can’t wait to return!!!

Wonderful Retreat Close to Santiago and Wine Country
Casa Ishi was the highlight of our weeklong trip to Chile. The lush environment with mature trees and abundant flowers was a warm welcome after a day of sightseeing in Santiago - the property is so nice we almost didn't want to leave for our tours everyday. Also, the large terrace off the kitchen was the perfect spot for morning coffee, but was especially nice in the evening with a glass of wine while watching the sun set, so beautiful We had great weather on our visit which the locals told us was generally the rule for that area, warm and sunny during the day but cool at night (perfect sleeping temp). Overall a great home-base for exploring Santiago and Chile - total privacy and with a view, loved it!

Secluded getaway in mountains; short distance from Santiago
The property exceeded expectations. The grounds were very lush, well maintained, secure and secluded. We went on a guided bike tour of a local winery which included, tastings, breakfast and lunch at a restaurant specializing in local dishes. Patio was private, bathed in sun and had great views. Only wish we could have been there more then three days! Owners were wonderful, generous and helpful. I would recommend this property to anyone.

Great stay at this wonderful villa
My husband and I stayed with our adult children at the beautiful Casa Ishi villa in April. It is just as pictured on the website, and so relaxing to sit in the gardens or out on the deck. The owner, Michelle, is great to work with and provided much needed advice on how best to get around and about things to see and do in the area. She made us feel at home and relaxed about using the yard, exploring the grounds, etc. She recommended drivers for our excursions and they were the best (Mauricio and his brother, Marco); they were both very professional, knowledgeable, flexible and friendly. Maria cooked her chicken dinner for us one night, which was fantastic. We like to cook and try new cuisines, and we were all very impressed by the delicious meal. It was nice having Maria nearby, as she was unobtrusive, yet always accessible if we had a question or needed anything. Between Michelle, Maria, and our drivers/tour guides, we felt like our every desire was taken care of during our time in Chile. We had the best stay there!!!

Amazing place in a beautiful location
Four of us stayed at Casa Ishi in late February 2015. From the first moment - even from the time we made the booking - everything went as well as it could. Michelle, the owner, was highly responsive and the booking was easy. Prior to our arrival, Michelle consulted on day trips and even recommended our wonderful driver Mauricio, without whom our trip would not have been as wonderful as it was. The property is stunning. The meticulously maintained garden has trees with an endless bounty of fruit - figs, avocados, oranges, apples, quince, walnut - which we were free to pick as we chose. A welcoming bottle of red wine awaited us as we "checked in" and settled into the guest house. The rooms are clean and spacious, the two terraces are great spaces to relax in with a glass of Chilean wine, the bathrooms are first rate, and having Internet was an added bonus. The house is also close to numerous wineries, including Concha y Toro. We truly loved our time at Casa Ishi. With wonderful hosts, a beautiful location, and outstanding comfort, I feel very comfortable recommending it without hesitation to anyone considering a visit to Santiago.

Cool place in the foothills of the Andes.
This relaxing property is in the Santaigo suburb of Pirque about 50 minutes from downtown (but only 7 minutes from the Concha y Toro winery). Michelle, her husband and caretakers Claudio and Maria were always available to help but unobtrusive. We had two nice dinners in Santaigo and Michelle arranged for a driver so we could relax and enjoy wine at the restaurants. It is right on the road to the San Francisco glacier and access to the Andes. Good beds and kitchen.
