Indah is made up of: 1. A Living Art & Event Space, where visitors will have the opportunity to interact & see Sarawakian artist & artisans at work. It's also an event space where we hold weekly events. Currently we have had it for wedding shoots, batik theme farewell party, host classical opera, poetry, improvisational theatre, birthday party, flea market to showcase local talents in 100% handmade products etc. 2. A place to chill over coffee, home made savouries (quiche, cottage pies) & home made cakes & ice cream & local food like our much loved nasi lemak. Indah House homestay was clean, comfortable and spacious. It does have steep steps but we found it a really good place to return to each day. It is a couple of doors up from Indah House Cafe which has great cakes, coffee and simple food. Colin and Trudi were wonderful hosts and helped out heaps with things to do around Kuching.

The cakes in the cafe are good, but everything in this cafe is pricey. Go on 200m down the road to Plaza Merdekah Mall to the food court on the 3rd floor - you'll find good food at half the price. WARNING : I stayed alone in the homestay (separate shophouse from the cafe) for a month in February 2016 and on my second last day, whilst out for the day, I was relieved of quite a considerable sum of USdollars. The only person who knew I had US dollars was the landlord. The only person who knew I was going to be out all day was the landlord, and the only other person to have a key was the landlord. When I confronted him he threatened to report me, a respectable 65 year old woman to the (Islamic) Police force as a prostitute. 1. Ms Elisabeth Dobb-Sandi from Oak Tree Cottage, Shuttlefast Lane, Malvern WR144JB, United Kingdom stayed with us for about 3 weeks in February 2016. 2. Ms Dobb on various occasions insisted we accept payment for her stay in foreign currency. We declined. In several instances she did not have enough money to pay for goods/services bought at Indah and we allowed her to pay at a later time. In making her final payment for her stay, she insisted that the amount she gave us was correct, only to admit later that she underpaid by one night. 3. On the day before she was to check-out, Ms Dobb claimed she lost her butter (!) and foreign currency. Earlier in the day she popped by to tell us she was going around town to do some sketching (she never told us her daily plans before and neither did we ask). She accused us of theft. We offered to bring her to the nearest police station to make a report. She declined. 4. Ms Dobb has a bad hip and on various occasions have requested drivers/friends to help purchase and deliver groceries to her unit. We have in many cases seen people enter her unit during her stay. 5. Ms Dobb's claim that we threatened to report her to the police as a prostitute is a blatant lie. There is no such thing as an Islamic police force. Even if there were she is not Muslim and not Malaysian, people from the Shariah council would not be interested in her affairs in Kuching 6. Ms Dobb left the homestay earlier than the time she informed us and took our keys with her. She left our home in a complete mess, having thrown pieces of ham into the toilet and leaving her used sanitary wares around, among others. We also found many empty wine and gin bottles in the unit. 6. We have kept evidence of our communication in writing to Ms Dobb and have also pictorial evidence. Feel free to write to us should you wish to view any of these.

Indah house is exactly what it advertises and provides space and convenience to Old China Town. The showers are great (2 showers) and there are also 2 toilets. The kitchen is very simple but it has a good size fridge - however there are many cheap places to eat in the area so it is not necessary to eat at home. Breakfast at their cafe is delicious - and you may be like us and have to go back for morning tea (often). With the air conditioning and ceiling fans we were very comfortable when there.
