Amazing
We rented the cottage for 3 nights and we had a unique experience. First of all, the welcome from Lena was second to none. The cottage kept its originality with nice flooring and a real fire place. The front door opens like a paddock. Flowers blooming and well looked after. Very clean and well decorated with old furnitures and little special touch from Lena. My daughter was very happy to play and feed the chicken, she even named all of the them. Lena left us some fresh free range eggs for breakfast. There is an apple and pear orchard next door. The place is only about 8 mins drive to Portumna. I would highly recommend this cottage or even the old post office cottage if you want to experience the real country side where there is no internet and enjoy family time. Thank you Lena.

Lovely escape from the norm
We arrived very late and were greeted by the lovely Lena (at midnight!) She was exceptionally helpful with her tips for planning places to visit, her offers to pick up things we needed and her general kindness. She left a bottle of wine, fruit, eggs (from her hens no less) and a chocolate bunny. A lovely surprise. The location was great; within an hour of some great places and various cities. Parking on-site too, which was located just outside of the cottage. The cottage was quaint and everything you needed for a comfortable stay. We loved the fire, especially on the cold nights (and there were a few!) It was big enough for us and our two small children with a dining table and a small kitchen area (and a dishwasher! Bonus!) Extra blankets were supplied, if needed, and we could help ourselves to as much fuel as we needed for the fire. The children loved their beds and slept well though perhaps a blind on the roof window may have helped them sleep a little longer but that's a minor point. The bed in the double room could have done with a bed topper as it wasn't the most comfortable, but again, this is a minor point. If you're looking for a place to browse on the net, spend the majority of your time on the phone or watching digital TV then this isn't the place for you! We downloaded a few films on our tablet beforehand which was perfect for the evenings but this place is definitely for people who want to escape city life and just want to enjoy a simple, quiet and calming holiday. Despite the weather, we had a lovely time but next time we'll definitely book when more things are open as February seems to be a quiet month with lots closed but we didn't mind as we were still able to take in the scenery on our various drives around Ireland.

We loved this traditional irish cottage
Located outside of Portumna in central Ireland, this cottage has much to offer. It's close to several historic sites-castles, monasteries, and still conveys a rural feel. Our host Lena was very helpful, and still manages a working farm! One highlight was the nearby Workhouse dating to the 1850's. The art exhibit was stunning and our tour guide, David, recounted the stories, hardships and genuine feel of life as it was then. We recommend it highly.

Beautiful & typical cottage
First time in Ireland and not disappointed by the cottage, the people, the landscape! The Shannon Breeze cottage is a work of art to discover the simple pleasure of a cozy and comfy home. I hope to come back here in the same cottage! The host is effective and pleasant, always asking if everything is good and asking how the day was! Not used to have this in France!

A very quaint Irish experience.
Lena was not only very friendly and accommodating, but provided us with a unique Irish experience. Feeling the heat and taking the smell of the peat fire burning, as well as, learning that the cottage had been an old horse stable provided us with visions and thoughts about what life was like decades ago when the farm was in full operation. It is our hope that one day we might be able to return to Shannon Breeze and explore more of the local sights and eat in more of the local restaurants than we were able to on this trip.
