Home from home
We stayed eight weeks at the Cart Lodge, using it as a base to visit Suffolk and family. As there was only two of us we found it to be very spacious and had everything and more than we needed. The location is very peaceful with direct access to footpaths and a short distance from Ickworth Park. Angie and Malcolm the owners are very nice people and did everything possible to make our stay comfortable.

Another great stay at The Cart Lodge!
We have stayed several times this summer whilst visiting family. We have always received the most warm welcome from our hosts. The Cart lodge is the most peaceful and relaxing place to stay. It offers everything that you need and is always spotless.

Excellent stay!
We stayed for three nights and found The Cart Lodge to be very comfortable. It was spotlessly clean and had everything that we needed for our stay. The garden is beautiful to look out on with garden chairs and table for relaxation. The location is wonderful and all we woke up to was the sound of birdsong. We even had a deer feeding just outside as well as the rabbits and chickens. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming and very amenable. There are three toilets and two shower rooms one particularly beautiful bathroom downstairs with a large luxury bath. Two separate sitting areas with smart TVs was useful as we go to bed at different times so it was good to be able to use the downstairs tv late at night. The kitchen is fully stocked if you need to cook a meal. We have already booked our return!

Superb all round...
Quiet and peaceful location. Very clean and comfy. Ickworth Estate within walking distance. Cart Lodge is even better in real life than in the photos. Great comms with owner Angie P, and really appreciated the welcome pack... Thank you. Recommended. Would definitely stay again when in the area.

Awesome
When you find a real jem like The Cart Lodge you don't want to share it with the world in case it's unavailable when you want to go back. Superb. Beautiful luxurious accommodation set in silent beautiful grounds. We were really pleased on arrival because the photos do not do it justice. Angie was really helpful in facilitating our stay. Thank you.

Fabulous
The location is amazingly tranquil set among beautiful gardens in a quiet lane but only a few minutes by car to Bury St Edmunds and close to country walks. The accommodation has everything we needed for comfort and relaxation. I recommend this apartment to anyone seeking a peaceful home from home with some luxury. Our hostess Angie lives close and is very friendly and approachable.

Home from home - and stunning gardens!
Weekend getaway for my husband's birthday. Angie welcomed us with everything we would need for the perfect short stay. Spotlessly clean, well equipped, great value. Plus a stunning view of the owner's gardens. Lots of inspiration. Really well located for pubs, villages, walks, and sites.

Very comfortable and spacious flat
The flat is above the garage but that is fine as it beautifully decorated and very spacious with two sitting rooms, 3 loos and a beautiful bathroom. The flat was very clean and covid compliant. The views across the garden are delightful. A good location very near Ickworth House and close to Bury St Edmunds. It is situated down a country lane with lots of walking nearby.

About the neighbourhood
We are very lucky to have the National Trust property of Ickworth House in the village. This can be reached by a 20 minute walk from the Cart Lodge. They have a cafe and a shop along with lots of lovely walks. There is a hotel in part of the stately home, The Ickworth, which has a restaurant for any special occasion. Booking is highly recommended as it gets booked up in advance. We also have two public houses, The Beehive and the Six Bells. The historic town of Bury St Edmunds is a short drive away, where most facilities can be found - banks, pharmacies and a shopping centre. The town has a traditional market on Wednesdays & Saturdays. The Abbey gardens are very special and well kept. The Theatre Royal is another gem along with The Apex.
Getting around
Sadly, we are not served by a frequent bus service. The nearest bus station is in Bury St Edmunds about 3 miles away, as is the train station.

How to get there
Follow the signs to Horringer, once in the village you will see the gates to Ickworth House and the village green with the church on it. Across the main road from the church there is a small lane which is Manor Lane. Please go to the bottom of the lane where you will see a mustard coloured thatched Cottage, with a 3 bay Cart Lodge beside it. Come onto the driveway and you are there!!
