Fabulous weekend away
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this delightful modern, well equipped cottage. Great location and beautiful setting. We have stayed here many times and look forward to staying again in the future.

Exceptional cottage perfect for a getaway!
Exceptional cottage perfect for a getaway! The cottage was comfortable and well thought out, perfect for two, and all the fittings and appliances were of a high standard. Everything was very clean when we arrived and it was a lovely touch to find a bottle of wine and a packet of biscuits waiting for us – thanks Caroline! The bathrobes were lovely too. All helped to make our stay feel 5*! The parking along from the cottage caused no issue as the garden trolley provided for transporting bags worked well. Ample directions and signage meant that we were able to locate the cottage without a hitch. We didn’t notice any road noise during our stay, and when walking back from the car in the dark we used our phone to help light the way for the short distance to the road – so no problem there either. The cottage is situated within an easy drive to Bury St Edmunds and just round the corner from Ickworth House so everything is on the doorstep – lots to see and do nearby. It goes without saying that a visit to the cathedral is a must in Bury but we also took the opportunity to book on a Tower Tour – very interesting and the view is spectacular. We would highly recommend the little Abbeygate Cinema in Bury which has its own restaurant attached for an evening out. And finally, if you visit Ickworth early or late in the day take advantage of their guided tours – the “Life Below Stairs” tour was particularly interesting. Enjoyed our stay so much that we would like to make a return visit someday.

Accomodation fine within a tricky to find, but beautiful setting.
We were fortunate as the weather was glorious no rain all week, so we wee not affected by the car park being a little walk from 'The Piggery'. The accommodation was spotless and there had obviously been careful thought into the design. However it may prove tricky for very elderly people. It was near to Bury St Edmund, which is a lovely town with excellent parking and good facilities.

We have enjoyed the cottage the Old Piggery. The cottage is furnished in a modern style, with comfortable beds and a beautiful and convenient kitchen. There is a fun place where you with the seat from the kitchen at the end of the afternoon, with a fine wine of Caroline can go enjoy the last rays of sunshine. Thank you so much that we at you.

Great place for a stop over .
We enjoyed our 2 night stay at the piggery. Facitilities were excellent ,the bed was comfortable, it was very dog friendly. Wine and biscuit welcome pack appreciated. The wifi connection was a bit variable . Ikworth grounds good for dog walking. Convenient to drive into Bury but too far to walk . There are 2 pubs in Horringer, the nearest one was shut the furthest one called the Beehive was in turmoil because it had 5 customers turn up at the same time. No lemonade for a shandy!

Beautiful cottage in a great location. Property had everything you could want and more. Tasteful and comfortable. Nice touch with wine and biscuits on arrival. Just a couple of tips if you go here Take a torch in winter. Pitch black on walk to car park and quite a few potholes one if which I managed to fall down. One of the pictures shows bathrobes so I didn't take one. There weren't any so again if going in winter remember to take one. However none of this distracted from a great stay.

Lovely cottage but noisey location!
This cottage is well appointed and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Unfortunately it is situated on a very busy junction - something not made apparent in the description.. Parking is also a short walk away down a narrow lane. If you do not mind the traffic noise and the inconvenient parking , then it is a very nice cottage for 2.

Mr
We stayed here for a long weekend and was a lovely place. Took us a while to locate it but once found it was lovely. Our only grumble was no secure outdoor area for our little dog, maybe a little fence across the front yard would be a good idea. Apart from this minor detail everything else was top quality.

Immaculately presented cottage
Throughly enjoyed the stay in this immaculately presented and comfortable cottage. Although Horringer is on a main connecting road into Bury St Edmonds the cottage is tucked away in a beautiful and peaceful courtyard garden well away from the road. Do bear in mind that the parking is about 200 yards from the cottage, but the cottage is so comfortable and welcoming it more than made up for the minor inconvenience. As a dog owner the cottage and the location worked well. Ideally located for exploring Ickworth Park which is just five minutes around the corner. There is easy access on the doorstep to footpaths and trails for those looking for more long distance walking. Also well located for road connections for exploring further afield. Thank you Caroline for a lovely stay.

About the neighbourhood
The Old Piggery is located in one of the prettiest villages in Suffolk. Famous for being an Estate Village, which was once owned by the Hervey family who lived in Ickworth House, which is now owned by the National Trust. The village is just 2 miles from the Historic Market Town of Bury St Edmunds. Horringer is home to Ickworth House, home of the historic and eccentric Hervey (pronounced Harvey) family. Set in 1,500 acres of grounds, which seem to go on forever, the house is a giant rotunda full of famous paintings and has been under the care of the National Trust since 1956. The family are also associated with Harvey's Bristol Cream sherry, and it was the 4th Earl of Bristol who created Ickworth in 1795. Latter-day celebrities in the family include model and socialite Lady Victoria Hervey. It was once said, 'When God created the human race, he made men, women and Herveys'. As well as works by the likes of Gainsborough (a local lad), Titian and Velasquez, the house boasts Georgian silver and Regency furniture. If you want to walk the grounds as well, Ickworth becomes a day-long Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk is a unique and dazzling historic gem. An important market town with a richly fascinating heritage, the striking combination of medieval architecture, elegant Georgian squares and glorious Cathedral and Abbey gardens provide a distinctive visual charm. With prestigious shopping, an award-winning market, plus variety of attractions and places to stay, Bury St Edmunds is under two hours from London and very convenient for Cambridge.
