Cottage
Lavender Cottage is available for weekly self catering stays and short breaks outside school holidays. The cottage is ideal for small families and couples with bath/shower facilities on each floor of accommodation. The cottage was rated 4 stars by Visit Britain last year so is well equipped especially in the kitchen. There's lots to do in Lyme Regis being in the middle of the Jurassic Coast between Charmouth and Seaton. Plenty of walking by the sea or countryside inland. Many restaurants including MArk Hix's Fish & Oyster Restaurant and Hugh Fernley Whittingstall's River Cottage Canteen in Axminster We accept dogs but charge an increased refundable security deposit of £200 (normally £100).

Great accomodation
The place was really clean and spacious, it included everything we needed in terms of appliances and also had little things such as washing tablets and biscuits. All worked perfectly and the place was so cosy. Great attention was put in preparing this cottage for guests and this was truly appreciated. I have been in several places travelling several countries but this cottage was one of the best I have ever been in.

Peaceful location in beautiful Lyme Regis
The cottage is perfect, located short walk from beach and other attractions, stylishly furnished and immaculately clean. Lots of lavender bushes in the terraced garden. We have visited several times and have always been very satisfied.

Short Break
Cottage was easy to find and central therefore easy to access all parts of Lyme. So nice to just walk out the door .... Parking was close by in one of the car parks. Well equipped and clean and peaceful.

Lyme Regis Stay
The cottage was cozy. Heating and beds were good. Kitchen a good size. Decor and cleanliness average. Garden a mess and kitchen drains overflowing. In summary ok, cozy but in need of TLC.

Thanks for the feedback. It's true the garden is left alone in winter and outside kitchen drain sometimes gets blocked due to birds dropping moss into it! I'll remind the cleaners to give it a clear out and check over the garden.

Ideal location, very comfy, everything you need + a back garden
We were delighted with Lavender Cottage! It was the most comfortable accommodation we had on our month long trip. The bed in the master worked well for my hubby who likes a firm bed and for me who likes to be comfortable. The kitchen was well fitted out and the wifi worked well. Best of all it was in a great location for walking the beach and exploring the town. It was also close to the bus stop which as a huge benefit for us. We'd be very happy to stay again.

Beautiful Cottage
I stayed with my mom and partner for a few days. The cottage is beautiful and has everything you need to have an amazing stay. Really comfortable and cozy and in a great location for walking to the seafront and town. Very quiet at night too. We would love return again next year!

Lovely cottage
We love Lavendar Cottage. This was our second visit. It has had some work done on it since our last visit (including a new shower and tiles in top bathroom) and the outside has been repainted. Hopefully a continuing project of work as it is in the best position for being able to nip back and forth from the beaches and town. Lovely comfortable cottage. We love Lyme and hope to return soon for fossiling and fun.

Lovely Time
Fabulous holiday and Lavender Cottage is a good base to explore what Lyme Regis have to offer. Cottage is well equipped. Shame about the garden which really could be a lovely area but does need some work on it. Then again you have the lovely seafront right on your doorstep.

Map
About the neighbourhood
Easily accessible, and only three hours from London and the Midlands, Lyme Regis is away from it all, nestling in the unspoilt West Dorset countryside. Part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage site, and surrounded by areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Lyme Regis, the “Pearl of Dorset”, is famous for its fossils, its historic old town, its Cobb and its beaches. And now it's a destination for food lovers, with Hix Oyster and Fish House in the town, and River Cottage HQ and Axminster Canteen both close by. The old town, dating back to the 14th century, is an ideal place to walk and explore the local shops, art galleries, newly replanted gardens with myriad places to stop to eat and drink. Built around the River Lym, Lyme has its own working Water Mill, recently refurbished to include an electricity generator. Lyme Regis is very special in that it is probably the smallest town in the country to boast its own cinema, theatre, and museum. The Cobb attracts visitors – not just for its visual splendour and its magnificent naval architecture, but also for its connections with great literature. Indeed, people come from all over the world to see the steps where Louisa Musgrove fell in Jane Austen’s Persuasion; or to see where Meryl Streep stood, looking forlornly out to sea, in the film adaptation of John Fowles’ The French Lieutenant’s Woman. Art lovers are drawn to Lyme for both its beautiful scenery and for its wide range of art galleries. Holiday makers will enjoy a family-friendly, sandy beach and an often-surprising micro-climate in the shelter of Lyme Bay. Marine Parade is a great place to walk, sit, enjoy the views and visit its small shops and eating places. Here the seafront facilities will soon benefit from restoration of the Marine Parade Shelters, ready for summer 2011. The town and surrounding area have many attractions and host a range of family-centred events, including a Jazz Festival, a Fossil Festival, Life Boat Week and a Regatta & Carnival Week. For visitors who have had enough of the hurly-burly, and need to escape, there are many delightful places to stay to suit all budgets. You will be able to enjoy walks in the surrounding countryside and there are many opportunities to go out on a boat to view the glorious coastline from the sea or to fish in the clear waters of Lyme Bay.
