Lavender Cottage is available for weekly self catering stays and short breaks outside school holidays. The cottage is ideal for small families and couples with bath/shower facilities on each floor of accommodation. The cottage was rated 4 stars by Visit Britain last year so is well equipped especially in the kitchen. There's lots to do in Lyme Regis being in the middle of the Jurassic Coast between Charmouth and Seaton. Plenty of walking by the sea or countryside inland. Many restaurants including MArk Hix's Fish & Oyster Restaurant and Hugh Fernley Whittingstall's River Cottage Canteen in Axminster We accept dogs but charge an increased refundable security deposit of £200 (normally £100).

GOOD COTTAGE, GREAT LOCATION
Great location with everything on the doorstep. Nice clean, comfortable, well equipped cottage. Owner very helpful when we couldn't find towels and had problem with TV. Garden was a bit disappointing and could do with a tidy up. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay

Endearing cottage, located 2 minutes from beach and shops
Everything you'd expect from a cottage, we felt at home as soon as we walked in. Modern kitchen and bathrooms, the house was spotlessly clean. Could easily live there. Just 2 minutes walk from the beach, shops and buses. Nice mix of shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs many of which allow dogs. Lovely harbour clean beaches and a promenade with seating and restaurants over looking the sea. Lovely cottage, centre of town, good weather what more could you ask.

Great Stay in a comfortable quiet cottage
The cottage is spacious, comfortable and ideally placed near the centre of the town and close to the beach. We recommend it and will be returning.

Very enjoyable stay
This cottage is well situated, only a few minutes walk from the beach and the high street. The cottage is nice and well kept, and the kitchen is well stocked with utensils. I would say it might be improved if towels were provided as not many people will want to remember bringing them, not to mention hand towels. Wood mead car park is only a few minutes walk away and is up a pretty steep hill, but there is room to temporarily park outside the cottage to unpack. The owner was prompt at getting back to a query whilst there. Overall we very much enjoyed our stay.

Perfectly positioned to enjoy Lyme Regis!
We had a fabulous weekend staying at Lavender Cottage. The cottage was lovely and comfortable and had everything we needed! What we loved the most was that it was perfectly positioned to enjoy Lyme Regis - within 5 minutes you could get to the seafront, the shops & the cafe’s... perfect!

Cosy cottage
Just returned from a lovely stay. The cottage is charming and tastefully decorated. Heating is great and can be turned off and on as required We stayed as 2 friends and the cottage worked very well for this, with each person having a separate bathroom and bedroom. It's laid out so you really feel like you have your own floor. One niggle I would have expected a welcome pack or at the very least some milk in the fridge. The nearest supermarket is some distance away and involves a walk up a hill and for the price charged seems a reasonable request. I'd return to this cottage if ever in the area again but would take ear plugs as the windows are single glazed and the noise outside made sleep difficult.

Fabulous cottage in an ideal location for the beach, shops and eateries.
We stayed in Lavender Cottage for a weekend. It’s a super cottage; really tastefully decorated with homely touches and a modern well equipped kitchen and bathrooms. The location was perfect for us as there are plenty of pubs, cafes and restaurants within a few minutes walk as is the beach and stunning coastal walks. No need for the car once you are there! We would not hesitate to book a return visit.

Not long enough!
Cottage was lovely - fresh and clean, but had that quaint and cosy feel too. We pre booked parking permits to make life easier. The road is quite narrow but we were able to park nearby to unload, then park in the official car park. We had this cottage and the one next door for a large family gathering and it was ideal - well situated to easily get to shops and beach, both dog friendly ( major plus!). I wish we could have stayed longer as it really felt like a cottage to have a proper holiday, not a short break.

Lovely Lavender Cottage
We stayed for a week to celebrate my birthday in Lyme Regis, enjoying every minute of the trip. Lavender cottage is a perfect location, a pretty street with a great pub and the best fish and chip shop in town. We were welcomed by a beautiful well equipped cottage to stay in for the week, even though it was raining we enjoyed staying in the cosy cottage, made a lovely roast dinner in the wonderful kitchen and enjoyed some lovely sparkling wine from the local Lyme Regis Cidery. Everyone in the area seems really friendly and our Jack Russell Peter Patch loved his stay, most places are dog friendly and the cottage is a short walk to the beach. We would definitely recommend and stay again.

Perfect central location. Car parked 2mins away outside Police Station so no safety concerns. Excellent fossil guided walk organised at the Museum on the beach front. All had a really enjoyable few days.

Thank you for the 5 stars - It is reassuring having the police station at the back of the car park.

About the neighbourhood
Easily accessible, and only three hours from London and the Midlands, Lyme Regis is away from it all, nestling in the unspoilt West Dorset countryside. Part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage site, and surrounded by areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Lyme Regis, the “Pearl of Dorset”, is famous for its fossils, its historic old town, its Cobb and its beaches. And now it's a destination for food lovers, with Hix Oyster and Fish House in the town, and River Cottage HQ and Axminster Canteen both close by. The old town, dating back to the 14th century, is an ideal place to walk and explore the local shops, art galleries, newly replanted gardens with myriad places to stop to eat and drink. Built around the River Lym, Lyme has its own working Water Mill, recently refurbished to include an electricity generator. Lyme Regis is very special in that it is probably the smallest town in the country to boast its own cinema, theatre, and museum. The Cobb attracts visitors – not just for its visual splendour and its magnificent naval architecture, but also for its connections with great literature. Indeed, people come from all over the world to see the steps where Louisa Musgrove fell in Jane Austen’s Persuasion; or to see where Meryl Streep stood, looking forlornly out to sea, in the film adaptation of John Fowles’ The French Lieutenant’s Woman. Art lovers are drawn to Lyme for both its beautiful scenery and for its wide range of art galleries. Holiday makers will enjoy a family-friendly, sandy beach and an often-surprising micro-climate in the shelter of Lyme Bay. Marine Parade is a great place to walk, sit, enjoy the views and visit its small shops and eating places. Here the seafront facilities will soon benefit from restoration of the Marine Parade Shelters, ready for summer 2011. The town and surrounding area have many attractions and host a range of family-centred events, including a Jazz Festival, a Fossil Festival, Life Boat Week and a Regatta & Carnival Week. For visitors who have had enough of the hurly-burly, and need to escape, there are many delightful places to stay to suit all budgets. You will be able to enjoy walks in the surrounding countryside and there are many opportunities to go out on a boat to view the glorious coastline from the sea or to fish in the clear waters of Lyme Bay.
