We stayed at this beautiful cottage in the first week of March. The cottage was spotless, incredibly located (within walking distance of the station, village and beach) and every possible amenity was thought of. The kitchen was as well-equipped as a home kitchen, there were plenty of towels and linen and all of the information provided by the owners was crystal clear and helpful. Christine’s Welcome Package was incredibly generous and thoughtful. Her sight-seeing recommendations were spot on. The little wood burning stove was a real highlight, keeping us cosy for our whole stay. We were so impressed by this little gem - we will be back!

I would highly recommend to stay at this lodge if you're visiting this area. Has everything you need for a very comfortable stay. The owner was great with communication. Fully enjoyed our stay and hope to stay again in the future.

Fabulous place to stay. Scrupulously clean (lots of extra measures in place due to Covid). Beautifully furnished, well equipped, lots of thoughtful extras and some very tasty welcome goodies too! Only there for 3 nights wish it had been for longer. Will definitely go back. Wonderful location, just 5 minutes walk from the beach and what a beautiful spot to get away from it all. I had pre-booked tickets so we were able to visit Alnwick Gardens which were all decked out in their Halloween Finery and looked lovely despite it being the start of November and a very wild, wet & windy day. I loved Barters books and came away with a bag full of books after enjoying tea & cake in their cafe. Open fires, random seating areas and a mini-train running about above your head - what more could you want? Favourite day out was Bamburgh Castle. Fantastic place to visit. Stunning location. very tasty food in the Clock Tower tea Rooms. Can't wait to go back (in hopefully post covid times). SO much more to see Alnwick Castle, Cragside, Fearne Islands, Holy Island & Lindisfarne Castle, Wallington (lots of National Trust & English Heritage places to visit). The Hardy Museum in Alnwick, Hadrians Wall. Boat trips to see seals and puffins. Lots of wonderful coastline. Museums, parks, gardens. So much to see and do and only 30 miles form the Scottish border!

We have been to Northumberland many times - staying up towards Ross Sands and down as far as Warkworth. But we haven't ever stayed in Alnmouth. What a lovely village it is! I am so happy we have found it. The location of the Lodge is also great - a little walk along the river and onto the beach. We have two small children and they loved the garden and also the playground which is on the way to the beach if you walk along the river. The Lodge itself was gorgeous - a really comfy bed, nice and spacious living area and the best 'little extras' to put a smile on your face when you arrive. We can't wait to stay again. Thank you Christine!

We had our second family trip to the wonderful Midwood Lodge in Alnmouth earlier this month. I’d forgotten what a brilliant it experience it was. From start to finish, I can only say that Christine and the team were simply outstanding. Excellent and detailed communication from the outset and an easy booking process with detailed brochures and links to so many recommendations and things to do locally. Alnmouth is a special place, but a stay at Midwood makes it just that bit more special. We were early but received a super friendly welcome on arrival. The team had put extra cleaning procedures in place due to coronavirus and it was clear no stone had been left unturned. Hand sanitiser, gloves and masks were in abundant supply and the whole place was absolutely spotless and had been thoroughly cleaned. After 30 second in the place any concerns we might have had were gone. A loving welcome pack with Prosecco, beer, homemade cake and a lovely handwritten card - this is how self catering holidays should be done. These personal touches really make a difference and show the love, attention and pride that the team rightly has in a wonderful holiday house. The house is in a great peaceful but central location and the off street parking a godsend. Everything you need is there and the outdoor space is wonderful. The kids loved the tree house and rope swing and the outdoor table and chairs a lovely respite for a coffee, glass of wine or to read or do a jigsaw. Netflix and the wood burner really compliment the overall offering, and it is refreshing to see these in an age dominated by undue health and safety concerns. Communication was easy and personal throughout and Christine so friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back, and if you are in any doubt about Midwood Lodge making a fantastic holiday even better, I can only recommend you try it. You certainly won’t be disappointed. We’ve stayed in loads of places in the area over the years and this is the best and most spacious for the price by a country mile. Thanks again for a wonderful holiday!

Stayed here for 4 nights. At the time of booking we could have taken either the Lodge or Cottage but preferred the Lodge for its extra space and the bath. Location is good. It's quiet (set back from the road), a 2-3 minute walk to the pubs (Red Lion is recommended for eating) and convenience store and not much further to the beach. Several walks start from the village, while there is a bus stop right outside. Garden is very spacious. The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped. The lounge is comfortable with a wood burning stove, good size TV and IPod docking stations. Bed was very comfortable. Thoroughly recommended.

Just returned from a wonderful weekend at this property. Immaculate in every way. So bight, warm and welcoming. Lots of personal touches and a wonderful welcome pack including prosecco, bottle of beer and homemade cake plus a few other treats! Even vases of pretty flowers. The house is incredibly well equipped with a very modern kitchen with everything you could possibly need and more plus Washer, dryer, dishwasher. We loved the bright conservatory which caught the sun all day long so perfect to relax in and enjoy looking at the garden. Beds and sofa extremely comfortable. Plenty of fresh fluffy towels and modern bathroom. Lovely log burner with lots of logs provided. The property is in a perfect location near to the village and beach. Has ample parking and garden very private. Lots of information provided. The whole place just had a lovely friendly welcoming feel to it. Would highly recommend and we certainly hope to return.

Location was perfect - walking distance to the beach and footpaths. Very spacious lodge with a lovely garden. On our arrival we had a lovely welcome pack with wine, beer and delicious cakes/biscuits which was a nice gesture. There are several places in the village to go for a lovely meal. The main bedroom could do with more electric sockets - there was only one near the door. We also had problems with the central heating - it was a hot week and we could not turn the heating off. I would definitely recommend this lodge to family and friends.

Thank you for your lovely review. We are delighted that you enjoyed the Lodge and garden and also our Northumberland goodies, which we enjoy sourcing for our guests. Alnmouth is so pretty and has so many nice places to eat and drink. Just to say we are sorry about the heating problem during your stay and we will look at having more electric sockets, that is a great idea! Many Thanks, Christine, Louise and all the Team.

A beautiful cottage in a great location just a short walk from the beach. Loads to do in the local area - visiting Alnwick (great bookshop and castle), Amble for fish and chips, or just walking round the local area. Our three year old daughter still talks about Midwood Lodge with great fondness months after we left!

Modern and well kept holiday accommodation very handy for Alnmouth village (a few minutes' walk), and also within walking distance of a railway station on the East coast main line, meaning you don't have to drive everywhere. We don't often go back the the same holiday cottage twice, but have just booked a third holiday here, which says a lot. Besides Alnmouth, its handy for Alnwick, Craster, Holy Island, the Scottish Border towns and a bit further afield Newcastle, Hadrian's Wall and Edinburgh. Great place - feels like home as soon as you arrive!
