Perfect location to attend a wedding at the Isle of Glenco hotel.
The cottage was clean, tidy and welcoming to us and our dog. Ballachulish has a very compact range of facilities around the cottage. There is a Coop store, Medical centre(never needed hopefully), cafe and gift shop and a well stocked hardware store. Fort William and Oban are not far away and good food everywhere.

Handy for the COOP
Strathassynt Cottage is located on the edge of the village of Ballachullish and from the photo it gives the illusion that it is in a more rural location. However, it has the COOP supermarket at the back and the Laroch pub at the front. On the whole it is in a fairly quiet area despite being near the pub. Overall the cottage is 'tired' looking and would benefit from investment in respect of ;kerbside appeal, decor and furnishings, We met up with friends who came from a different area so we both had vehicles. Parking is tight and we weren't allowed to park in the guest house car park. On a positive note - the beds were the most comfortable that I have slept in! There was plenty of hot water and towels, toilet paper etc.

Home from home, with everything you need right on your doorstep.
This well equipped self-catering cottage has to be one of the most conveniently located holiday lets in the Highlands. Ballachulish Co-op supermarket is just over the back fence and across the road are the Laroch pub-restaurant and a fish & chip shop. But that doesn't spoil the view, there are green and mountainous views from lounge and kitchen windows to remind you where you are. For me Strathassynt Cottage made an excellent base for hill walking in the area and I'd recommend it to anybody doing the same. Should the weather turn against you, this cottage is also very comfortable for just staying indoors and taking it easy. And I shouldn't forget to mention the host, Neil, who was always welcoming, friendly and helpful.

A really well set up cottage in a perfect location
This house is clean, comfortable and works really well for anyone wanting a break in the highlands. There are great walks (Brecklet, the Lochan, etc..) that you can do from the house. You can also cycle along the cycle way by Loch Leven to the Holly Tree for a meal. The cottage is in a small village with a very friendly feel and is next to the Co-op, the chip shop and the pub/restaurant. What could be better?

Good value for money
If you're looking for a no frills, value for money holiday let then this is the one for you. The cottage is comfortable and equipped with all your basic needs. A good night's sleep is guaranteed - comfy beds and a perfectly peaceful setting. It's best selling point is the great location - a lovely village next to a Loch and within walking distance of Glencoe. The local pub restaurant is opposite and directly behind the cottage is the small supermarket. Nick, the host is friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay very much!

Lovely, cosy retreat
I stayed here with my husband and small dog for ten nights. Lovely cottage , well equipped with everything you need for a self catering holiday . It boasts beautiful scenery from all around. WiFi good ,shops are a two minute walk away. You can eat out in the laroch again a few minutes walk away but do check if they are doing meals in the low season. Great walks from your doorstep and if your feeling really energetic you could bag several Munro's which are very nearby ! But like us we admired them from the comfort of the reclining Sofa's in the cottage . lovely village , quiet but not too rural . The host's are next door and always happy to inform you of walks , places to go and to eat out. They made sure we were comfortable and had clean towels and bedding. Thank you Neil and Katya for a lovely , relaxing break. We will definitely be back. Helen and Allg

Perfect location - top tip
We have been guests at Strathassynt cottage for a number of years now - and we keep coming back. The cottage is ideal for everybody who looks for comfort and short ways to amenities. Our dogs love the nearby quarry walks and the ever so popular peninsula walk along Loch Leven is only three minutes away. For those with an interest in local history or film settings, the area will not disappoint. The Tourist Information Office, which offers a wealth of information and ideas for all the family, is only a stone throw away. Walkers, bikers and drivers can all find what they are looking for when staying at Strathassynt. Neil and his family provide an excellent service with a personal touch. Nothing is too much bother for them. We are looking forward to coming back.

About the neighbourhood
Strathassynt Cottage is centrally located in the heart of the West Highlands of Scotland, and this makes it a perfect base for exploring the area. Day trips are possible to the Isle of Mull (and Iona) and the Isle of Skye, as well as south to Loch Awe, Inverary and Oban, and north to Fort William, the Great Glen and Loch Ness. You really couldn't pick a better base for exploring the stunning scenery, history, and whisky the area has to offer.
Getting around
There is no doubt that the easiest way to see the sights is by car. That said, the bus stop is right outside our door from which there is a regular service between KinlochLeven and Fort William, and down to Oban. The bus from Glasgow to Skye also stops here making getting here and moving on very easy,
