Kirkennan Woodsedge forms part of the converted stable block on Kirkennan Estate. It sleeps up to 5 people in 1 double and 1 twin and 1 single room. It has a living room with open fire (initial fuel included), a kitchen, and an enclosed rear garden with a lawn and sitting out area (outside furniture provided). To the front it looks out over grass and fields. The property is all on one level and has an accessible shower room and an adjustable height Adjustamatic bed.

Stayed for four nights in July. Owners were very accommodating allowing me to book an extra night and arrive earlier than 3pm. The cottage was clean and comfortable and had everything needed for a stay. I found the facilities a bit “tired” though ... needs...More

About the neighbourhood
Kirkennan is located fairly centrally within the East Stewartry Coast National Scenic Area which is recognised nationally and internationally for its outstanding scenery. Along the coast to the East you can find the seaside town of Kippford where on a sunny day you can sit and sip a drink while looking at the boats in the Estuary. A short walk or drive further east takes you to Rockcliffe known for its beautiful beach, where at low tide you can walk out to Rough Island. The coastal path continues on to the sheltered beach of Sandyhills. Driving further east you can find RSPB Mersehead, renown for natterjack toads and winter visitors.

Airport: Glasgow (or Edinburgh): 160.0 km
Railway: Dumfries: 27.0 km
It is quite possible to holiday at Kirkennan without a car by either using local buses or hiring bikes. Taxis can normally be found at the station forecourt in Dumfries and can bring you to Kirkennan in about 30 minutes (cost in 2015 £20-£35 approx). Alternatively you can take a bus to Dalbeattie and then another bus that heads to Auchencairn and request the driver to drop you at the gate. It is possible to arrange a local supermarket to deliver most of your food supplies and anything extra can be bought at Palnackie community shop (walking distance). Further advice on how to enjoy a holiday at Kirkennan without a car can be given on request.
