First trip to Hebrides and this cottage is an ideal base. 20 min drive from Tarbet. The location is stunning and we never tired of the view. A perfect base for exploring Harris and Lewis. The cottage was spotless, cozy and very comfortable. It is very well equipped with everything you need. The owners live next door and are very helpful. They also own the Taste and Sea just up the road. Well worth a visit. My partner says it’s the best scampi he has ever tasted. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone visiting Harris. The perfect place to relax. Thank you

The Fisherman’s cottage at Bowglass is a perfect base to explore Harris and Lewis. It has everything you need and more for a family self catering stay, a very well equipped kitchen, complete with dish washer tablets/ washing tablets etc plenty of towels and comfy beds. The cottage was warm and cosy and what a beautiful outlook. The owners who live next door are friendly and hospitable without being intrusive. The brownies and fresh scallops were an added bonus and delicious. Would highly recommend.

We had a lovely stay at the Fisherman's cottage. It had everything we needed for a few days away and was a great base to explore Lewis and Harris.

The cottage sits on the edge of Loch Seaforth with the most amazing views and opportunity to spot wildlife such as eagles soaring overhead. I had been a little concerned as it's just off the main road but we never heard any traffic (there's not much anyway!) because the cottage is tucked in down the hillside. Excellent base for walking. The cottage is well equipped and cosy and the owners who live next door were welcoming and helpful.

Just home after a wonderful holiday in Fisherman’s Cottage. Alasdair and Irene welcomed us to their lovely cottage which is well situated for touring Harris and Lewis. The bowlful of muscles and a bottle of wine were a lovely touch. The cottage was spotless with views over the Loch to Seaforth Island. The kitchen had everything we needed, all appliances were new and in good working order. Our weather was exceptional but there was a log burner and central heating if we had needed it. We would stay in this cottage again, hopefully next year.

This was our second stay in the cottage and again we were not disappointed. The cottage is comfortable, clean, warm, well equipped, nicely decorated and has wonderful views across Loch Seaforth. The bed is comfortable and it is oh so quiet at night. The location is great for visiting both Harris and Lewis and there are some lovely energetic walks into the hills behind the cottage where you can see eagles and enjoy great views across Harris and Lewis. There are otters in the loch in front of the cottage.. Alistair and Irene are lovely and made us feel very welcome. We enjoyed our second stay just as much as the first one.

About the neighbourhood
Harris boasts stunning unspoilt beaches to the south and a picturesque mountainous landscape to the North. Walking, fishing, golfing, surfing are just some of the activities enjoyed by many. There are also many art galleries/cafe's and eating places throughout the island. Trips to St Kilda are available from south Harris by either Kilda Cruises or Sea Harris. The small friendly village, Tarbert, has a few shops, tourist information office, churches and places to eat. The Hebridean Celtic Festival which is held in July each year attracts many visitors to the island.
