Our log cabin is perfectly located only 9 miles from Callander and 1 hour 15 minutes from Glasgow or Edinburgh. It is the perfect location for couples looking for a relaxed quiet holiday or families looking for a base to tour the surrounding area of Loch Lomond and Perthshire. The Freesat, Smart TV and Fibre Broadband will help ensure you make the most of the rainy days. The cabin offers a true home from home experience with a rustic feel. The cabin is located in Strathyre a beautiful highland village with shop/off license, 3 pubs and restaurants. The accommodation is over one floor with a comfortable lounge and dining area, open plan modern kitchen, 1 double bedroom, 1 twin bedroom and shower room. Set in a tranquil estate, in an area of outstanding natural beauty, it's a great place to relax and just enjoy the scenery. Equally, children love exploring the grounds which offer lots of space to run around enjoying the wild, rural countryside. Around the cabin there are extensive grassy areas and the River Balvaig flows not far from the front door where you can cast a line. You are licensed to use two rods from the river bank, mostly for brown trout. Various water sports are available nearby at Loch Earn. The cabin is perfectly located for cycling so bring (or hire) bikes since the tracks leave right from the door. If walking's your thing, you have access to gentle walks along the loch or to the neighbouring village of Balquhidder or more challenging hikes uphill! For families, there's a playpark, tennis/recreation ground and an indoor pool/spa, sports courts and climbing wall in Callander. There are also various cafes and shops. Safari park, wildlife centres and working/petting farm are just a short drive. Water sports centres and canoe and bike hire nearby. Indeed, all the sporting and wildlife watching opportunities of the national park are easily accessible. There's all manner of sighting opportunities with bushcraft, tracking, navigation and wildlife observation days available at Strathyre's outdoor centre or you could try a landrover safari outing. Strathyre Outdoors offers a wide range of activities for families and children, including: Junior Ranger trails and Bushman fun in the forest. Wilderness trails, Twilight walk, Bike Hire, Canoe Safari and Geocaching and much more. 'Total Wipeout' fans can don a wetsuit and have a go at conquering an iceberg themselves at 'Go Country' and for a bit of monkey business there's 'Go Ape', an aerial treetop walkway with UK's biggest zip wire. Excellent golf courses afford fantastic views and pony trekking can be arranged. More

The cabin was on a lovely small site and had everything we needed. Very comfortable and well thought out.Lovely log fire for chilly spells. Minutes walk from a lovely forest which the dogs loved.Loch Balvaig is just down the road and a beautiful spot. Great...More

My wife and I stayed here for lovely Romantic break early January. The accommodation is fantastic and spacious and the log burner makes it nice and cosy. Perfect setting and location and just a short trip into callandar. I would certainly recommend this to anyone...More

About the neighbourhood
Strathyre is a pretty Victorian village on the eastern shore of the River Balveg, near Loch Lubnaig. The village is a popular tourist destination and has 3 local pubs, village shop and post office. In the centre of the village you will find the Buchanan monument, erected in 1883 to commemorate the religious poet Dugald Buchanan. The village of Strathyre is surrounded by Strathyre forest. This stunning natural woodland is popular with walkers, climbers, cyclists, horse riders and wildlife enthusiasts. Nearby Loch Lubnaig offers fishing, canoeing, kayaking and other watersports. The location of the village also offer various other outdoor pursuits to be undertaken within a short drive.
Getting around
Car is the best way to get around the national park. However a bus stopped is close to the cabin offering a regular service to Callander etc. Walking and Cycling is another option with the various walks and cycle paths close to the property.
