This dog friendly, bright and warm 3 bedroomed home has all the amenities to enable you to stay in luxurious comfort. Its spacious kitchen is perfect for large family meals before relaxing in the snug or sitting room to be mesmerized by the magnificent ocean views. Westhaven faces west over the south end of Bay of Clachtoll, the bay has a truly glorious beach of white sand lapped by idyllic turquoise water. From the headlands either side of the beach you gain stunning mountain views to the south. The northern half of the bay contrasts with its neighbour comprises layers of sloping rock strata and stone. This, and the rocks of the headlands either side of the sandy beach, make Clachtoll a renowned spot for geologists, and you are as likely to see visitors heading for the beach with helmets and geologists' hammers as with flippers and snorkels. Between the two inlets is a grassy headland on which you find a salmon bothy. This small stone building is part of the Clachtoll Salmon Station, preserved by the Assynt Historical Society. Displays show how the salmon station, which closed in 1994, would have operated. Less obvious than the bothy, and a little to the north east of it, is the ice house in which the catch would be kept until transported to market. A short walk to the north of Clachtoll bay is, the Bay of Stoer, with its beautifully polished stones and overlooking the bay you will find the Clachtoll Broch the remains of a spectacular iron age settlement. Westhaven is in an area that has some of the very best coastal and inland walks in Scotland with breath taking views and stunning variety. Towering mountains, jagged cliffs and secluded beaches all surrounded by the ever present, awe inspiring, power of the changing ocean.More

Westhaven is a lovely place to stay in a fabulous location, with the beautiful beach only yards away and fantastic views of the Assynt mountains from the nearby headlands, especially if one gets out early enough to watch the sun rise behind them. The area is simply stunning with unique scenery, wonderful beaches and so much wildlife - we saw seals, an otter, a sea eagle and lots of red deer, including stags roaring for the rut nearby. The house itself is very comfortable and well equipped with picture windows looking west out to sea, where we watched the big splashes crashing on the rocks. A wonderful holiday was had - in spite of a week of high winds!

This really is a lovely house in a fab location. Out of the back gate, a short walk through the sand dunes and you are on the beach. Well equipped with super comfortable beds. Shame about the breakages deposit. You will be expected to pay for anything that breaks. The fridge and freezer were frosted up, hubby went to put something in the freezer and the drawer was stuck due to the ice build up. He didn't force it but a piece of plastic broke off the drawer front. We did tell the owner who came down and saw what had happened, he asked us to switch the fridge and freezer of when we left so he could defrost them (he said they frost up regularly). No more was said, but a week after our return we still had not had our breakage deposit back. I chased to be informed that he was keeping £50 back to put towards a new freezer as a replacement drawer wasn't available. We challenged this and was told he thought this was fair as he could have kept the £400 to buy a new freezer. Shame as we would have certainly stayed here again.

Superbly situated in the glorious Assynt coastal landscape NW of Ullapool just a few moments from the coastal walks around Clachtoll Bay and on to Stoer Bay. Direct access to the beach from the garden. Easy drive to the coatsal scenery of the Old Man of Stoer, Achmelvich beach and numerous treks in the surrounding areas. Very confortable with all amenities and views from every window. Watch the sun set over the sea. Delivery of groceries can be arranged via Steve Collie at Drumbeg Stores. Local restaurants, cafes and shops in Lochinver and a small store at Flossies 200m away in Clachtoll. If the weather is sunny and warm, it's an idyllic spot.

Lovely house in a perfect location for Clachtoll beach. Well appointed and very quiet despite its beach side location.

It is an absolute pleasure for Rob and I to write a review of Westhaven following our holiday at the house in mid-November 2020. As owners of a holiday cottage ourselves we made the perfect choice in Clachtoll and were not disappointed. From the moment of arrival we knew that we had hit the right spot. The house has everything for a home away from home, clean, warm and comfortable, spacious rooms, every amenity, a huge enclosed garden area for dogs and just a few moments walk to the beach and dunes. The house was spotless, luxurious bed linen and even two reception rooms with big screen TVs. Even in winter there is plenty to see and do in the area, from walks on the beaches, brochs, waterfalls, caves and much more. We had a lovely day out in Durness and Kylesku, this is wild land and stunning beyond belief. We can thoroughly recommend Westhaven and sincerely thank Neil and his team for providing a lovely home for our autumn break. We will return again and perhaps also in the early summer. Book well in advance though, this is a real value-for-money property and worth every penny. Thank you.

From pre-arrival comms re Covid precautions to how well equipped the house was, everything was perfect. Fabulous location (50 yards from beach), great wildlife watching opportunities from the house - dolphins & porpoises (through binoculars) and stoat in the garden. Great walks from the door, Flossie's cabin 2 minute walk away for ice cream (amazing weather all week, so a few trips ;-), fresh coffees, wine and various useful items. Fresh langoustine from Bruce the fisherman in Lochinver which we cooked in the house and snorkelling and free diving in the bay (large crab caught). Stoer beach just 10-15 walk away (or park at cemetery 2 mins away) was much quieter than Clachtoll beach. Walk around the headland from Stoer for beautiful views (and sea otter, dolphin and porpoise watching). Neil was there on arrival and a great source of info. 3 great size bedrooms, one en-suite, quality blackout curtains, comfortable sofa in living room and plenty space in kitchen. All in all, would highly recommend and would love to go back.

We had an amazing time at Westhaven. The house was very comfortable and had the best views and easy access onto the golden sands of Clachtoll beach. Beautiful cliff top walks from the back gate. The weather was very kind and we saw dolphins in the bay, deer and pine martins in the garden. We will definitely return and stay at Westhaven.

We had a wonderful stay at Clachtoll Westhaven. The house is in front of the sea with a beautiful white sand beach within 50 m. We were a family of 6, and the house was the perfect size, with outstanding bed quality. Great kitchen, very nice living room with beautiful view on the sea, even if it is raining. A very remote place, but this is exactly what we were looking for. Nice little walks directly from the house, or a very large variety of outstanding wilderness to explore within 1 hour drive. The owner was very helpful. We hope to visit again.
