We return to the Brigs year after year (and sometimes twice a year). There are many wonderful holiday lets in the area, most with something unique and all enjoy the unsurpassed Assynt scenery. However, there is a good reason we keep returning to the Brigs and its because it really does tick all of the boxes:- Peace and tranquility. 360 degree stunning vistas. The interesting and constantly changing beach is just a short stroll. A magnificent waterfall is virtually part of the back garden. True wilderness starts within a few short yards. The vista from the close surrounding hills is breathtaking, stretching from the North Coast (Foinavon) to Ullapool (Coigach) and beyond. A supremely comfortable house that is also very well equipped. The house is roomy and flexible for different sized parties, so even when full of kids you will always have a spot to maintain the tranquility. Though remote, its well connected with both WiFi broadband and inclusive phone calls. Last but not least the owners and their local representative are a delight to deal with; always available, attentive and fast to respond. When its just the two of us, we used to choose a smaller cottage in the area , but that rule has long since been abandoned. If the Brigs ever opens in mid-winter we will never need to stay anywhere else. Its now even better in 2019 with the much improved new access road. I almost forgot to mention the Highland coos. They are regularly in the adjoining field or the field adjacent to the beach. Its great fun for both adults and children as they love being hand-fed bunched grass. Open the curtains (very slowly) in the morning and there is a good chance to see magnificent red deer grazing within a few yards.

Clean and comfortable; very good! Lovely views all around but especially the one from the garden in front the house all the way to Handa Island. The "Brigs" is ideally situated as a base from which to discover all the hidden beauties of the spectacular coast of Sutherland. We will definitely be returning in the near future.

Robert your cottage is so homely and spacious and warm with absolutely everything we needed. With 360 degree views it couldn't be better placed, with views of the beach and surrounding fells. Marvelous!! We will definately visit again.

This house / location is the perfect place to escape from the noise and busy of the world. . It's beautifully kept and laid out and very homely and well equipped indeed. It has stunning views of both the beach and waterfall. We hope to be back next year. If you stay do visit Albert Roux's restaurant nearby. We also took a trip up to Durness which is stunning. Lots of lovely places to eat , cycle , walk, run etc. Also perfect for children.

Despite hurricane Bertha doing her best to way away the A835 (just missed us!), we were body boarding on Clashnessie beach mere hours after the winds and rain had ceased, in the warm sunshine. The Brigs is just half a mile from the beach, up a country track. It is well appointed, with dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer - and despite the body boarding on the Monday, there was sufficient wet weather to ensure that there were clothes to be washed every day, so those are essential. Having a dishwasher as well just made the holiday as chore free as it could be. The wifi, although fairly slow, was good to have, to keep track of weather and local attractions. The master bedroom looks out onto a great waterfall, and up towards the hills, where there is a cairn; we have stayed at the Brigs twice now, and we hid a little cache of quartz in 2012, and were delighted to find it in 2014. There is a television, whose SCART connection needed a bit of wiggling to get working, and after we got it working we never turned it on in any case, playing cards and the like in the evenings. We ended up with the DAB radio permanently on, to Radio 6 Music, for the most part.

Enjoyed a 2 week vacation at this wonderful spot. The house is positioned above the bay of Clashnessie with amazing views. It was very roomy and comfortable and very well equipped. One of the bedrooms upstairs is a family room with a a double and 2 twin beds, all my 3 children slept in the same room and loved it There is a nice big fenced in garden for children. The beach is only 5 minutes walk away and it is gorgeous. white sands, rock pools and empty most of the time. This whole area is one of the most beautiful I have seen and we found plenty to do from beach trips(plenty around), Handa Island bird reserve and wildlife cruises, Sandwood Bay, Old man of Stoer, Lochinver, Ullapool and surrounding mountains. If you want to get away from it all this is the place.
