Nice cottage, clean, comfortable, dog friendly, and close to some of the Big Bear area hikes. Thank you, Alan!

Quiet neighborhood but far from the village. Good place if you have dogs. Owner communicated quickly and allowed me to check in hour before regular time. Unfortunately the cottage was not cleaned properly. Looked like nobody dusted there for a while , hair on a bathroom floor and kitchen floor was not cleaned properly. Besides that cute place , larger than looks on the picture

Close to Big Bear Blvd, this cabin is very easy to find and to get anywhere around the lake. Husband and dog enjoyed walking around the neighborhood. There's also a park by the fire station less than 1/2 mile away where they walked every day. In the other direction, there's a post office, a neighborhood market, and a bar/grill which are also less than 1/2 mile away. All very convenient! The cabin is so cute and clean inside! It has everything you need to enjoy your stay. We always eat out or bring home food and coffee from restaurants on trips (plus we always bring paper plates, plastic silverware and cups) so we only used the fridge and microwave. But rest assured, the kitchen is lovely and well-stocked with everything you'd need for cooking, dining in and cleanup - even a dishwasher! We loved sitting out back among tall pines with our dog when we weren't on the go. So relaxing! And when we came in at night, it was great to have DISH tv to watch - easy to use and a good variety of stations. Also appreciated the on-demand hot water and handheld shower head with the long hose. We were so comfortable and having such a good time, we even extended out stay.

I had a wonderful stay at this cabin with my two dogs. This residence is located off the beaten path in Sugarloaf Mountain Suburbia. As my trip came closer I made contact with the owner, Alan, who was very friendly and personable and informed me when I could come to the place after requesting possible early check-in after catching some fish at Big Bear lake (about 20 minutes to the dam). It was a perfect spot for the dogs-the yard was large and enclosed and safe. There are awesome, rural hiking trails all over the area. The neighborhood was very quiet-you could hear the wind blowing through the trees and an occasional dog bark-that was about it. The kitchen was huge with a nice gas stove that was used often. The shower was for a tall person-Thank You!-and had some decent water pressure. The TV/Dish Network was set-up nicely and handily included Netflix and YouTube. The bed and couch was very comfortable. The décor was Old School Americana with a massive collection of Teddy Bear’s and Bear Décor...and even Fred Astaire in the bathroom?-Loved It! And it all went beautifully with the thoughtful ambient lighting. The cabin was larger than expected and had a surprising, almost spiritual vibe to it that rang with a theme of much life that had been lived-warts and all. I hope to return soon and fish again before it gets too hot and definitely plan to return with my wife in the winter and utilize the awesome wood burning fireplace located in the living room. Overall, this place was not like a five-star resort, but it was definitely a five-star retreat for me and ZuZu and LiLy, my two Cattle Dogs.

It was quite an odd sensation to rent a cabin in the mountains where we once lived for 13 years, but we were desperate. We simply had to escape from the illegal fireworks going off at all hours in our neighborhood, for our dog’s health and our sanity. Needless to say, we were very particular about what was on the list and “Bear’s Bungalow” checked every box. 1. Pet-friendly 2. Fenced yard 3. Quiet street 4. Single story 5. Cozy/comfortable 6. Important amenities (coffee maker) 7. Affordable. Plus some extras that weren’t deal breakers, but were much appreciated. (I.e. WIFI, proximity to town and parks, level lot with trees, tastefully decorated, hassle-free check in/out and impeccable instructions.) Our sole intent was to experience a peaceful weekend without any sky rockets or firecrackers, which was achieved and more. In addition to the list above; the weather was flawless, the house was fully equipped with everything we needed and a serene sleep was had by all after daily walks along the forest trails or just relaxing outside in the yard. Due to the multiple photos and detailed description, we knew exactly what to expect and were not disappointed. A special kudos to our host Alan for making this 4th of July a dream come true instead of the usual nightmare. 5 stars, A+, 4 thumbs (and paws) way up!
