A lot of creature comforts, but no electricity, internet, TV, etc. Water, ice, and firewood are brought in daily. Owners/hosts live nearby and are a short walk away if you need anything. There are no other tipis (teepees)on the property, so your experience will be completely private. You'll hear the wind in the trees, birds in the summer, and elk bugling in the fall. The wonderful smell of pine, cedar, and spruce will refresh you as you relax around the fire and fall asleep at night. TIPI This tipi was made by Nomadic Tipi Makers who created the tipis in the movie Dances w/ Wolves. Custom-painted, this tipi features nature scenes, along with a mountain motif around the base, and phases of the moon near the top. The 20-ft oval interior sleeps four (1 Queen, 2 twins) on heavenly comfortable beds (storage underneath) with 5-inch thick memory-foam mattresses. Snuggly down comforters, wool blankets and soft sheets ensure your warmth and comfort at night, as you stargaze through the smoke-hole of your tipi. Additional blankets are stored in bench seating. FIREPIT and EVENING SKIES: Log seating surrounds the firepit; wood is provided for each night's stay. The skies are black, and there are so many stars that it's difficult to find familiar constellations. You'll see the Milky Way arching across the sky at night. The Perseid meteor shower occurs in mid-August, reaching peak activity around August 11-13. What a show! Be patient, and you'll see the International Space Station and other satellites passing overhead on clear nights. KITCHEN and DINING: Redwood picnic table and benches, dish washing sink (and detergent), authentic enamelware plates, bowls, cups, and spoons. Flatware, glasses, cooking utensils, pots, pans, dish towels, napkins, salt, pepper, sugar, french press coffee pot, and a campfire popcorn popper (popcorn provided). Locked container is for food and trash. Large cooler provided. Hosts remove trash daily and also bring additional ice and firewood for the day. Just bring food and beverages. Hot breakfast and dinner available for an additional fee. Arrange with hosts after booking. SHOWER and TOILET: Shower outdoors in a private enclosure that is open to sky, trees, and mountains. Individual solar shower is provided for each guest. Plush towels, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner are provided as well. Toilet is in unique multi-wood outdoor enclosure. Toilet paper, air freshener, hand-sanitizer, hand towels and reading material appropriate to the setting are provided. :-) Hike the property and enjoy the nature and wildlife. Native American- themed reading materials for children of all ages from 5 to 95. Content is both educational and some is pure entertainment. Horseshoe pit and horseshoes (of course) provided.More

About the neighbourhood
This setting is on a 6,500 acre ranch occupied by 13 families, so you will not likely see other people, hear vehicular traffic, or your neighbor's choice of music. This vacation rental is for the 40 acres only. All other properties and roads on the ranch are private, but you will have thousand-acre views! Look for sightings of elk, deer, pronghorn antelope, Rocky Mountain big horn sheep, eagles (bald and golden), chipmunks, ground squirrels, tree squirrels (gray and Abert's), and whistle-pigs (marmots). The shy ones are bears, cougar, lynx, bobcat, and badger. Most likely you will not see any of the last group, but they are out here and you might! Have your cameras ready. :-) The setting is very much like a national park.
Getting around
You will need your own vehicle here, as we are in remote mountains at 9,000 feet elevation. There is no public transportation. 4-wheel drive is recommended for winter, early spring, and late fall, The location is not suitable for RVs or 5th wheels so they are not permitted. Although rugged looking the mountains are actually fragile and easily damaged so no Off-road vehicles (e.g. ATVs, UTVs, motorcycles, etc) are allowed on the property.
