Little Cocoa offers high-quality, self-catering accommodation for two, on a small, organic cocoa farm in Providence, St. David’s. Originally the old plantation estate office, this historic, stone-built cottage is situated on a mountain ridge bordering the rain forest, with breath-taking views of the Atlantic Ocean. Ideal for the independent traveller who wants to experience something a little bit different, Little Cocoa makes a great base to explore the island, or simply relax and enjoy the tranquillity of your surroundings. We’re only ten minutes’ drive from La Sagesse - one of the best beaches in the world, and twenty five minutes from the famous Grand Anse beach and the capital, St. Georges. We’re only ten minutes’ drive from La Sagesse - one of the best beaches in the world, and twenty five minutes from the famous Grand Anse beach and the capital, St. Georges. Explore its rambling streets and bustling market, visit old military forts, graceful plantation houses, waterfalls, spice gardens and rum distilleries. Go diving, snorkelling or turtle watching, or just relax in the sunshine with a rum punch. Little Cocoa has been lovingly restored and tastefully furnished. It offers a fully-equipped kitchen and comfortable sitting room with TV, DVD and Internet. The large, luxurious double-bedroom features locally-produced, hand-made, hard wood furniture. There is a beautiful, en-suite bathroom with solar-heated water. The rooms have ceiling fans and nature's air-conditioning - a powerful breeze. Outside there is a large verandah where you can dine or relax in the hammock and enjoy the view. The cottage is set in its own private garden, and there is off-road parking. We can collect you from the airport, and arrange car hire for you, and we also offer a car service for short journeys if you don’t want to hire a vehicle. (There is also a local bus nearby.) We love to get to know our guests, and will happily provide a typical Grenadian meal or a trip in our boat for a BBQ on Hog Island. If you’re looking for peace and quiet, a rural environment with wonderful walks, bird watching, beautiful panoramic views, and a lush, green landscape cooled by refreshing mountain breezes, Little Cocoa is perfect. The cottage is clean and spacious with delicious mountain breezes. The deck overlooks a garden dense with flowering bushes that draw lots of hummingbirds. Our hostess is helpful and accommodating. The cottage is a little tired - a light fixture and stove burner that don’t...More

Quiet, lush, green, relaxed. I stayed there for 10 day. I loved it! What more to say. Even Grenadians ask: Providence! Where is that? It's in the Grenadian mountains and a 40 minutes ride from the tourist stuff!

About the neighbourhood
Providence is a tiny village located in the parish of St. David's. Our little cocoa farm was once part of the Providence Estate, a large cocoa, nutmeg and banana plantation. The cottage was originally the Estate Office, where the cocoa was weighed and the wages were paid. The old scales are still in the garden, and the concrete pillars and iron runners were where the cocoa was dried. The area is known locally as Cocoa D because “dat’s where de cocoa be”! We are about 800 ft above sea level and look out to the Atlantic. We are not far from the rain forest. If you go up our road (which turns into a track higher up) you will see the vegetation change and feel the temperature drop. The landscape is beautiful, with lush vegetation, tropical flowers and trees, a wealth of bird life and there ar...
Getting around
We are in a good location to tour the island. We do recommend that you hire a car in order to get the most out of your stay with us. There are local buses but it is much easier with a car.
