Holiday home for 2, Portes is one of the 4 gites within Mas Bernadis and can only be rented per week. Fixed changeover day is saturday. Mas Bernadis originally was a farm, built in 1850 as a 'maison en pierres'. Mas Bernadis is a retreat where the silence is deafening. It is a small scale combination of characteristic holiday homes and it is situated in the south of France, on the edge of the Parc National des Cevennes. Cevennes is a rough and calm region between the Ardeche and the Provence. Portes has been built after the year 2000, on the very spot where the horseshed used to be. It is a new building, however in the style belonging to a “maison en pierres”. It exactly fits the style and form of the old building, where the other gites are located. Truly a gite with its own distinctive style. The high ceiling offers room for a mezzanine, where a double bed is installed. Living quarters, kitchen and bathroom are on the ground floor. Through the French windows you directly walk on your terrace, edging the garden of Mas Bernadis. On the terrace, next to the living quarters you can enjoy the morning sun. Should the sun be too hot you can seek some coolness under a parasol. On the kitchen side is another terrace where you can enjoy the afternoon or evening sun. Because the Holiday home is built on the groundfloor, it does not lie in the line of sight of one of the other Holiday homes. You can enjoy a natural kind of privacy. Within the gite you have access to our WiFi network, so Internet is closeby. Facilities You can go for a swim in the pool near your holiday home, in streams like the Luech, the lake of Villefort or even in the Mediterranean. The Pool, the large garden with all its inhabitants and the petanque court, enable also the children to have a good time. We cook a 3 course meal, 2 days a week and you can order fresh bread each morning. Our homebrewed Beer can, by the way, be served every day. To See The Gard and the Cevennes are places where you easily get the feeling that time seems to stand still. It is a beautiful area in the calm of nature, where you can relax and get rid of stress. Culture and a real mediterranean atmosphere are plentiful in cities like Nimes, Montpellier or Avignon. These cities are not too far from Mas Bernadis. On the other hand if you want to take it easy, there are numerous sights, markets and authentic old villages nearby. To Do Around Mas Bernadis you can ride a bike or hike on routes, which are very good set out. The choice in length and intensity is vast. Bikers need to be reasonably fit, since there are hardly any roads without a climb. Next to these physical activities, there is enough to do the the near surroundings of Mas Bernadis. Visit Caves, Canouhikes, horseback riding just to name a few examples.More

About the neighbourhood
The Gard The Gard is a department of the region Languedoc-Roussilon. From Mont Aigoual the highest peak of the Cevennes, through the famous Pont du Gard, until the sand of the Mediterranean: a collection of breathtaking places, green forests, heaths and a natural shoreline. A diverse landscape where there is a lot to see and do. Because the region has an average of 300 days of sunshine per year, you run a very low risk that your plans are spoilt by the weather. This area offers a variety of local produce from the well known wines to the “Riz de Camargue”. It is also an area with characteristic festivities (Fetes Votive) focussed on horses and bulls. Animals one also directly associates with the Camargue. The Cevennes A magnificent landscape, rough and wild. A paradise for bikers, hike...
