Maps, walking books, binoculars, identification guides, wildlife DVDs and our comprehensive local walking and wildlife guides help you to maximise your wildlife encounters and enjoyment of the area. The owners, Jayne and Andrew, are also on hand to share their local knowledge and passion for wildlife. Hooting Lodge has a veranda overlooking the shared garden at the front . There is an enclosed shared woodland garden to the rear with ready access to the woodland, hills and moorland behind. The grounds are managed to maximise biodiversity and provide a home for nature, supporting chequered skipper, pearl-bordered fritillary, small pearl-bordered fritillary, green hairstreak butterflies, narrow-bordered bee hawk-moth and a thriving population of slow worms and other wee beasties. About the neighbourhood
Mingarry Lodges is a great base to explore The Ardnamurchan Peninsular, The Road to The Isles and Fort William. The ferry ports to The Isle of Mull, The Isle of Skye and The Small Isles are all within an hours drive of Mingarry Lodges. Castle Tioram, a romantic, historic ruined castle, is a 10 minutes drive away, though for the more adventurous, an hours walk away over wild and rugged moorland... Other great local walks in the area include those to The Singing Sands, Smirisary, Ariundle Oakwoods National Nature Reserve and The Glenborrodale RSPB Nature Reserve. Oh, and don't forget to visit The Glenfinnan Monument and take a trip on The Harry Potter Express over the viaduct from Fort William....
Getting around
Mingarry Lodges are situated in the remote West Highlands. Public travel options are very limited. You really need a car to explore the whole area. Bicycle hire is available locally.
